Lovely posts maytaurus,as always. The poem made me cry, can't get it out of my head now. I wonder, can you help me. I've been looking for a shrug pattern in chunky wool, knit or crochet, but they all seem to be light summery ones that I find. It's for my sister for christmas. Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone. Maytaurus - as usual, lovely posts, and I loved the very moving words, too.
Shaz - they take no account of real lives, do they? As Maytaurus has said, they seem to think that 'one size fits all' when they make all these rules and regulations. I think it's awful that you have to keep going every three months to justify your position. Good luck for today.
DPixie - would love the crochet pattern please!
I think our thoughts today are very much with Pippa - I can't wait to hear how everything went. I think today is just a formality, a sort of rubber-stamping, but it'll be a huge day in the lives of all involved.
Well, I should be working but I'm watching something about animal rescue on BBC1 and it's wonderful. They've just found someone's stolen Staffie (it had been found in a cupboard!) and reunited it with the owner. Luckily, it had been micro-chipped so the owner was easy to trace. Just goes to show how important micro-chipping is.
Anyway, the programme has just finished so I must go and do something.

ETA I wanna learn to crochet too....knitted since I was about 8 or 9, properly since early 20's, but could never understand how to make a crochet chain into anything else!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

OrkneyStar - I learnt from youtube and a book. I'm not a brilliant crocheter but I'm improving! It's nice to be able to swap between the two and I find crochet a bit more portable than knitting but I suppose it depends what you're working on.0

Hi guys!
Thought it might be useful for crochet wannabe's - here's the link to the lovely Crochet Ripple Blanket blog - it has really clear how to instructions and I know that some of you found it good.

Thankyou maytaurus, it'll be a hard choice now, might have to make one for myself as well, which means buying more wool:D.
OrkneyStar isn't there someone at the wool shop who could start you off on crochet? Or they might know a customer who could help?0 -
