I think I can answer (correct me if wrong!) that tomorrow (oh no its today now!!) is the culmination of years, and years, of assessment, training, meetings, reports, more assesment and social work visits on a regular basis....legally after tomorrow they get to be a family with no visits, no meetings and just normal family life which, I am 100% certain, will be bliss! huge love, hugs and prayers coming your way Pippa and family. Are you doing anything special; to celebrate?

Good morning everyone. Hope you are all well.

Pippa - Will be thinking of you all today! What a wonderful day it will be!

Prfungi - loved the story about your name! To answer your question, the attic looked like this k1504689.jpg

and now it looks like this k1504689.jpg

There's still an awful lot of work to do. We have two of DH's friends coming over on Thursday and Friday to help. It won't be to a glamorous finished finish, so I've been told, because the room will only be a temporary one for now, but it frees up our downstairs bedroom for our friends who are coming next Sunday. The floorboard business has all been done but the mess it made was awful - took us a couple of hours to hoover it all up, even from the room below!

LC Wilson - haven't heard from you for a while. Hope everything is OK?

I'm working on a crochet cupcake pincushion to send to my Mum for her birthday later this month. I've already made her a ruffle scarf, but I need to get it in the post before our friends come; knowing them, most evenings will be spent sampling the local vino - if I do get a chance to knit, it will be small things like IS hats. Once they've gone, I shall get stuck into preemie items.

Anyway, the sun is shining here and it looks like it will be a lovely day.

Will catch up later - I really must get some housework done but, boy, doesn't it get in the way?

    Have a lovely morning, everyone.

Ooooooooooooh human cruelty to all living things makes me so mad
Dogs taken to council pounds in the UK have 7 days for their owner to find them.
On the 8th day your dog is likely to be destroyed if a rescue does not go and save your dog.
Nearly 20,000 dogs lost their lives like this last year alone
    WARNING !!
This poem makes me cry every time I read it (or even think about it)

Nobody's Dog- a poem by Trudie James
Today is the death day of nobody’s dog
Nothing will mark it but a note in the log
I’m faceless and nameless and no tears will fall
For I know in your world I have no worth at all
To you, my sweet someone, I’m a friend and a dear
We ran the wind daily and you held me so near
But the gate was left open – I chanced a walk on my own
I’d have cowered in fear if only I’d known
I know how you cried on the night that I strayed
I know how you searched. I know how you prayed
But I went to a pound far far from our home
Where I crouched in despair in my kennel alone
I know that you phoned for I heard your dear voice
And I hoped you would hear me so I barked myself hoarse
Although I’m a Lab cross with stockings all white
On their form I’m a Staff cross – the description’s not right
So they said I’m not here and I sank to my bed
My kennel cough’s worse and I can’t raise my head
The rescue came yesterday but they hadn’t a place
For an un-neutered cross breed with his mucus-streaked face
If only you’d come to search for me here
You would have known me at once, you would have sensed I was near
You would have sorted my ills, you would have carried me home
And I promise our God no more would I roam
Now my eyes plead for mercy for my seven days are done
And I am waiting with dread for the final vet run
No arms will caress me as they inject me to death
No words will comfort me as I take my last breath
When the body man comes, it is fitting I’m found
In a bin bag in the freezer in the depths of the pound
Thrown away like the rubbish - no respect and no shame
Denied even the time to find you again
My loyalty and devotion they did cruelly betray
Without microchip or nametag, I am just a dispensable stray
Once waggy-tailed, once proud, beloved and free
Oh Dad look with pain at what mankind’s done to me!

    Morning all,
Pippa.S just catching up with whats been happening, and all the best for today!
Maytaurus....knitted Elvis wigs lol!!!!!!! Made me smile :D. I love the cat knitting cartoon too.....if only my moggy would do that!
I nearly finished the angel gown last night but was pretty much knitting asleep lol. Two more rows to go and then just the ribbon to add (getting some of that this morning down the street as we are lucky enough, in out small town, to have a haberdashery and a knitting shop (bear in mind apart from that we only have cafes, tourist shops, 1 butcher, 1 grocer, 1 hardware store, Coop, Red Cross, Bank) :).
    Hope everyone is ok.

morning all, feeling really tired this morning, didnt sleep well, probably due to worrying over having to go to the job centre again this morning. they want all single mum's with a child over a certain age to go out to work, which is great in theory, but not so great for those with children with special needs. my twins are 14 now, and still cant be left alone, and there is no childcae in my area for teenagers at all, let alone ones with care needs. social services have been no help either, so every three months, i have to go see an adviser at job centre, and explain myself all time, i'm sure half time they dont trust what you say.
    anyway rant over

    pippa, enjoy today

    morning all.

isom - your poem was so lovely that it brought tears to my eyes. oh well, OH has gone to work today, lets hope that i dont have to go and fetch him from the other side of london today.

the one thing that his illness yesterday did mean, was that i was able to crochet most of a little jumper for (i think) algerian action. its just a little one as i was trying out the pattern and thought that i would make the smallest one. it is very cute and very easy, so if anyone wants to crochet something that is similar to the oxfam jumper, but with some sewing involved, let me know and i will link the pattern.

loving thoughts being sent out to everyone, and may, its great that you have posted almost every day for the last week. we love it when you do that.

oh well, off to the gym in a moment (after my coffee) and then its a matter of cleaning the house and doing as many things on my to do list as is possible.

    have a lovely day everyone.

  • At last knitting news to report! Did loads of the burial wrap but then got a nasty hole so unpicked and started again...hope to finish it today. May that poem was so sad :( ...Pippa thinking of you as you wing your way..In haste, first estate agent has cancelled so now have time to pop to bank. Also booked gp for thurs as, despite tabs, still not sleeping...misery isnt it. Love the cat knitting cartoon and will email it to mum and woman having the other two..Alfie is turning into a very affectionate boy now the others have gone and it nothing else this has taught me you can have too many cats!

'they want all single mum's with a child over a certain age to go out to work'
    I sympathise with you shaz

What about fitting in with school hours, week ends, school hols etc?
They also seem to assume that everyone has a relative nearby who will take on the childcare when the mother can't
Then they wonder why society is like it is and the streets are full of yobs!
I suppose a lot of the problem rests with the fact that nowadays, there are a lot of young single mothers who may not take life seriously enough and unfortunately everyone gets 'tarred with the same brush'
There are plenty of woman ( and quite a few men)on their own with children for all sorts of reasons, widowhood, divorce, husbands /partners left them
Sadly everyone has to suffer for the ones who don't care
