Gillygansyle - Welcome what is the story behind such an unusual name. Hope you enjoy it here .
One of those daft names that my Dad called me as a kid and it stuck, it was a TV programme, gilligans isle.

So, I've had a mega sort out as I'm not working at the moment, and hate housework, so I went to the market on Friday and bought some wool and have started with crocheted squares.

Feeling very domestic and much like my dear Nan, as I have just made soup, bread and am sitting here in her old rocker trying to remember how she did tea cosies that were in sort of panels with the wool pulled across the back. I'll try to figure it out first, if not I'm sure someone knows what I mean.

Come on Jean - share the recipe - you know I need them !!!
    (for the J & E book)

Oh and never mind the excuses :naughty: - get that barn cleared pronto - we`ll all be needing our zimmer frames at this rate and won`t be able to enjoy our French `knitting retreat`. :rotfl:

Obviously the weather forecaster I saw last night was talking a lot of rot for today `cos the sun`s shining - yay -so I`ve been out collecting seeds from my pansy plants in the front garden as I`ll need lots for next year again. Jim had grown about 600 pansies and various other flowers for the garden this year and 3 of my lovely neighbours very kindly planted them for me when I was rushing back and forth visiting him in hospital, so I have had a fantastic show. I`m hoping if I grow the plants for next year they might give me a hand again to plant them. I`m sure they will as they won`t want me letting the street down. We have won prizes for the lovely gardens in our street and ` the last of the summer wine` lads like to keep things looking nice. They`ve actually planted a holly tree at the end of the street in memory of my dear Jim as well.

Right, I`m off to put the kettle on as DD will be in soon to collect the little lad and will be glad of a cuppa probably.
    See you later all.

I have just cleaned out my wool box and put all my oddments together.
Have quite a lot of 3/4 balls of DK and 4 ply, and also some full balls that are colours I won't use, but suitable for babies :).
Managed to do half the back of my first preemie cardi, its teeny but looking lovely.
Thanks again for all the welcomes.

No Jaqui, don`t hold your breath. Mind you, Kathy said her neighbour keeps a caravan in her barn - we could bunk in there - I don`t mind a few spiders :rotfl:We could teach them to knit, just think how quickly they could rattle up a jumper with all those legs in action !!!!

    hello :D

    how is everyone?

I have just picked up some lovely woolly stuff (but i think its synthetic) in a really nice midnight blue, might try and have another pop at knitting :D
Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession :o:o
  • Elaine - that teacosy is just the exact one I want........yep I did have one from my Grannie but it fell to bits - oh and it got a bit singed around the bottom, so I am really greatful to you for finding that pattern for me. Just got to work out the colours, I would like it all bright and in your face, so will have a search in the knitting machine wool stash and see what I can come up with. Surely the book should be EEE & JAY ELLL 8CH recipe book?
Jaqui - sorry the barn is not even on the list of projects to do list, so Kathy will have to put you all up - I will supply the jam/chutney/curd etc
K2tog - having been got at by Elaine for the recipe I have now sent it on to her for inclusion iin the Loving Hands recipe book...so just remember and buy one when its available.
Shower time then a quiet sit down
