Late for me but DOH has been in bed all day with horrible flu like symptoms so I have been busy administering Lem Sips etc etc and catching up with sewing.
ISOM --Hope you have had a happy day
Only Girl-- Happy Birthday for tomorrow
I am going to a workshop next Saturday with Madeleine Milllington so I am practising even Blanket Stitching like mad . I decided to make a needle case for DD1 ( She NEVER does any sewing but it must be in the Genes somewhere !! ) It opens to 2 pieces of felt containing needles
I just want to add a few tiny glass beads when I get to town to buy some and then I will tuck it away for her Christmas stocking
Night night everyoneTry and do a good deed every day.0 -

A quick crochet question:
My mum says i need to start from a circle to make crochet squares (for a blanket) but she hasn't got time to show me! I know how to make a starting chain, but if i just make a circle from there i just end up with a crochet tube! The only stitch i can do is a treble (and variations on it)
What is my mum on about and how do i do it?
Thanks in advance for your help

Happpy Birthday, Only Girl! Have a wonderful day!
ISOM - I'm so glad you had a great birthday yesterday!
Chalky - (((Hugs))) to your DH. Hope he gets better soon. Your needle case is beautiful! Will look forward to all the details about the workshop!
Delain - here's a video about starting a crochet circle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eayNzAgZMUY and there are plenty more if you google something like 'starting a circle in crochet'! To stop your work forming a tube, you need to increase as you go. Here's a link to a simple granny square http://crochet-mania.blogspot.com/2008/01/chain-4-join.html. Keep trying - it's frustrating when you are learning but all of a sudden it all clicks in!
Will call back later and catch up with you all.

A quick crochet question:My mum says i need to start from a circle to make crochet squares (for a blanket)Hi delain
you can start with a circle but you don’t need to start from a circle if you don’t want to,
You can just chain stitch the width you want your blanket to be and then crochet... back and forth... until you get to the length you want.
If you want a really big blanket you can make several smaller ones or squares and then put them together
I make all my blankets this way as I find they have much straighter edges and you can always crochet around the outside when you’ve finished
Have a look at this blanket pattern, it’s really easy peasy
