  • Update for this week:

    20 Buntings
    10 IS hats

    Signature is correct

Not so much knitting this week as mam had a bad fall Thursday night. She has had an infection/fever and gets a bit disorientated. I'd gone to sleep about 11-30pm then was woken by such a clatter 15 minutes later. She'd gotten out of bed in the dark and turned into the wardrobe instead of the door. I couldn't even lift her as she's quite a big woman, and had to run upstairs and drag my brother down to help. Nothing more serious than a couple of bruises, but she was obviously badly shaken. I'd just called the doc earlier in the day to get another round of antibiotics and they have started to kick in now, so she's more her old self but still sore. Of course it had to catch her on the hip which still gives her a lot of pain from her fall down stairs years ago :(

    Kathy:

Hoping your DIL is doing well, and that perhaps the baby is safely here by now? You must be willing the hours away until you are back in the UK

Hi everyone. No news as yet - DIL was going to be having an epidural just after midnight; the midwife said that it would be likely that her colleague - due to take over at 3.00am - would be the one doing the delivering. I shall text DS2 at around 5.00am UK time for an update. We told him to phone whatever time of day or night it was but he may not have wanted to disturb us. We went to bed at around midnight with all the phones near to hand, and managed about three hours sleep. I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep for obvious reasons! I can at least get the sandwiches made for the trip to Caen, and we will have a meal on the boat. The packing is more or less done now; just a few last-minute things to add to it.

L C Wilson - hope your Mum is feeling a bit better now.

Shaz - make sure you take it easy.

Pippa - enjoy yourself with the girls.

Well, I've managed a few more IS hats but will add them to my totals when I get back. My knitting bag is packed with oddments of wool so I hope to get quite a few made - they are so easy to make and require hardly any concentration - ideal for when you can't think straight!

Pam - thank you so much for doing the updates in my absence. You are a star!

I shall try and log on whenever I am near a computer in the UK to keep up with the news.

I happened to mention on the phone to my Mum yesterday that I would be stocking up on wool during my trip back, and she said she has loads that she will never get round to using, so she was going to spend the afternoon sorting it all out. I may well come back with enough to last me a lifetime!

Anyway, the kettle is calling me again! I will pop back in as soon as I hear anything from DS2.

Kathy - hope all goes well for the family. It seems such a long night when you`re waiting for news, we had the same problem when one of my girls was in labour and SIL didn`t want to ring and disturb us - we were wide awake anyway !!
Have a safe journey home and enjoy spending time with your family.

Lorna - hope your Mum`s not too bruised and battered today and is feeling a bit better.

Pippa S - have lots of fun with the grandchildren, but don`t get too tired out chasing after them.

Hi Stephgifter, and welcome to the thread!

Update on the main event going on in my world, DIL is having a Caesarian round about right now. She wasn't dilating enough so they've decided not to make her carry on trying. Hopefully, I'll be able to let you know before I leave!

At long last, I have a brand new granddaughter! She had to arrive by Caesarian and DS2 doesn't know how much she weighs yet, but the worst is over and I can't wait to see her. Thank you so much for all your thoughts and wishes. Yipeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!
