    UPDATE FOR THIS WEEK

    2 RAG DOLLS

the boys have gone home - due back here on the 11th, so all I have to show for this week is the two 'alien' looking dolls on the wooligans photo's, never did like dolls much, perhaps that's why they look so odd. Never mind I am sure some wee person will be happy with them. If I can make a better pattern I will continue if not I shall go and try something else.
I have knitted a load of juggling balls but they need sewing up and stuffing - well thats a whole other days job. Off to read the postings from my last weeks visit.
Kathy - when you are in the uk buy your christmas cards - they are few, far between and extremely expensive here if you can find them.ALSO put a post it note on the car by the steering wheel saying either drive on the left or drive on the right (depending on the country you are in, I still do it when I go back to the uk its easy to forget when you have a ton of other stuff in your head
House smells delicious today I am dealing with 10 kilos of ripe tomatoes........greenhouse and polytunnel still producing loads but no more outside ones.
    back later

Hi everyone. We're back from our race night last night. Don't know how much was raised yet because the numbers are still being crunched, but it all goes to the charity here that neuters feral cats to keep the numbers down. My horse won the first and the last of eight races; it was all great fun and a little too much Vino Collapsio was imbibed, too! We stayed over so were able to help our friends dismantle all the tables and chairs and clear up.

Jean - thanks for the advice. I'd already decided to stock up on birthday cards back in the UK. The cards here are all horrid and expensive, too. Those in the UK are brilliant by comparison, aren't they? I still have loads of Christmas cards from previous years, but will buy some if I see them. They might not be out in August! The post-it advice is good, too!

Pippa - what a shame you bought the pattern only to find it as a freebie. I bet it was expensive, too.

I did a bit of knitting on the way down to our friends' yesterday but hope to get the cardi finished this evening. I shan't start anything more for the baby because I might not get it done in time. We are considering ourselves on standby now, as the baby is due in 13 days time. We will book the ferry this weekend, and book it for the due date - DIL suggested we do that because she's worried we'll get there too soon and, if she goes over her time, might have to wait for most of our time away for the baby to be born, and not have a long time to spend with him or her. Hopefully, it will all work out and we'll get some quality time with them all before I have to be dragged back here, kicking, screaming and sobbing! I can hardly wait and have a real mixture of emotions; obviously, the most important thing is that the baby is born healthy but I hope DIL is OK. She's only tiny and I am worried for her. I know her Mum is really starting to worry now, bless her.

Anyway, I have paperwork to sort out. DH is taking the day off tomorrow because we need to sort some things out. Now that we are in the French system, we have to register with a doctor here, and also get both our cars re-registered here now that they are on French insurance. It was very nice tearing up the tax disc but our friends have told us that France is now thinking about introducing car tax over here. I hope they don't! Still, for now, the MOT is every two years, so that's something. I'm also hoping to find a hairdresser tomorrow - neither of us has had a hair cut since March, before we left the UK! Mine's not so bad because it's long anyway, but DH is starting to look like an ageing hippy! I'm sure he'll be pinching my scrunchies soon to tie it back! It's just something else we haven't yet got round to!

Anyway, I've waffled - I must get a move on and sort out the paperwork ready for tomorrow.

Sorry for all the non-wool-related waffle!

    Hope you are all well.

Hi, see this link because it actually looks like it could be the same item/same shop or seller, only on ebay and for £7.99, not £10.99. I don't have one but am tempted to get one!

Hi all. Just thought I'd pop in and tell you what happened to my DH's cousin recently, just to let you know that these things happen. She was standing in front of her washing machine - which was halfway through a 70 degree wash - when the door suddenly burst open and the water poured all over her feet. She has some dreadful burns which will need ongoing treatment for some time to come. It obviously doesn't happen often, but I just wanted to mention it as a warning. It would be even worse if it happened to a young child. She was only too pleased she wasn't carrying her three month old daughter at the time.

  • Kathy that sounds terrible...so glad my washing machine is out in the boiler room - not that I ever get it up to that sort of temperature, what a worry. - (post it stuck onto either the left or right hand side of the dash @ the wheel- not sure if that was clear as mud or not)

Hi Jean - yes, I knew what you meant about the post-its! My washing machine is in a utility room so I don't have that worry, but I shall warn everyone I know. I only use a 30 degree wash unless I'm washing towels or DH's work stuff. The new machines don't even hold a lot of water but still enough to cause damage if it's too hot.

Anyway, I've sorted out my paperwork for tomorrow, and I've just put the dinner on. I want to sit down and watch Countryfile tonight at 8pm (9pm our time). I only watched it for the first time last week and really enjoyed it. Jean - they did a bit on there last week about the Welsh cob - was really interesting. I want one!

Well, off to check on the dinner.
