Good morning everybody
Change of plans and little Buster is here all day. TBH we love having him and DD1's partner is doing their kitchen at the mo so a bit confusing for a little one.
Kathy we are bad enough with this puppy so goodness knows what we will be like if grandchildren come along. I am sure you cant wait to see yours and especially welcome you new little one into the family.
Well I hope everyone is feeling Ok and if not some gentle thoughts coming your way. Congratulations to all those celebrating.
Well I did a lot of sewing up last night but yesterday we went to Bovey Tracey to The devon Guild of Crafts. I love it there and can look around for ages -- very pricey though but as we all know hours and hours and hours can go into making something very beautiful. Well I saw Madeleine Millingtons work and bought a little bag of dyed wool pieces and ended up staying up really late making applique bits and pieces. I loved the results. She is doing a workshop there in September so I booked myself in for the day and am really looking forward to it You actually make a product so that will be lovely
Here are my first attempts. Getting the stitches even is the most challenging. The blue on blue was the last attempt and getting a bit better. You can google her and their are lots of lovely Christams ideas. Now all I need is to find some lovely old fashioned pure wool blankets to dye. I gave loads away when my Mum died -- drat !!I will try DMIL I expect she has some stashed under the bed !! Hope so !!
Ok I must jump in the shower. Have good days everyone
Hugs to Elaine, Maytaurus and anyone else feeling in need of one or twoTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Morning everyone,
Hope you are all well, Wow Chalky, It would take me hours to do one of those, they look fab though, as does the blanket all the colours blend really well together.
ISOM well done on your scarf and muffin, they are brilliant. Is it easy to use beads with knitting? I've never tried it.
Does anyone know where I can find a pattern for a childs hat, DS1 wants me to knit him a hat he can wear to bed, (don't ask!!) I think he 's after one like noddy wears, any help much appreciated.
Sun is shining here again today so I hope it is where you all are too.x:jWooligans Totals 2010:

Hi Everyone
A quick update in between the ironing and puppy adoration !! Don't know who is worst me or DOH. He is soooo good though. Already getting really good at the House Training lark. He is so funny as his little legs are not totally co-ordinated yet and steps are a challenge !!
Anyawy postie has just arrived with some more wonderful squares . Thank you all so much
I have got the courgettes from the garden to turn into ratatouile ( cant spell that! ) and then a casserole to make for tea. Yes, winter food for winter type weather!! Then I will settle down and get sewing . I think I will take a picture of the Friendship blanket nex as it is coming along nicely but obviously at a slower rate cos of the smaller squares.
So thanks again. It feels so special to be involved in such a special combined project. What a difference joint efforts can makeTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
morning all, hope that everyone is okay. we are back from edinburgh - tired out, but the flat has been painted and looks a whole lot better.
kathy - you now have the pattern for the crocheted oxfam jumper - i have made some small changes to the ones i make (i start the arms on the same row by chaining the arm length along one side, breaking off the yarn and then going to the other side, chaining the arm length on that side and then starting the arm width from there). the first one i did in (american) double crochet, so the arms were different widths - that is why i made the slight change. also, the sleeves are really short, so i make sure that the sleeves are about an inch longer than the end of the body of the jumper - iyswim, that way, if the sleeves are too long, the wearer can roll them up, but if they are too short, they wont be able to warm their wrists!
anyway, i need to get on with the housework, the shopping and the planning of what i am going to spend my small tax rebate on - i was thinking of .... you got it, some more wool for oxfam jumpers. i think if i get enough for 10 jumpers, that should see me through my three weeks off in france!
have a wonderful day all, and maytaurus, we did see you drop in with some lovely pictures, see you again soon.
elaine, you sound very busy, lovely to see you again.

i was looking for a'noody' stlye hat pattern and found theses
this unusual hat pattern is for chemo patients, i wonder if there is a need to knit these for anywhere while the eyelash wool is so cheap in wilkinsons? (there are loads of chemo hat patterns on the link below) it hadn't even entered my mind that there is such an obvious need for these
http://www.headhuggers.org/patterns/kpatt10.htm
could this dobby pattern be adapted to suit your sons needs OG? it looks very like a noddy hat and doesn't look too difficult

oh there are so many nice ones on here im just going to put the page link up so you can choose.

Hi everyone. I'm sorry but I haven't got round to doing the update yet. I've been chasing my tail all day trying to get lots of things sorted out! Will definitely do it tomorrow morning, I promise.
DPixie - thanks for the info about the Oxfam jumper.
Mrs Moneypenny - I'm working on my shopping lists now, but I am doing one from here, too, so that I can take some gifts home with me!
Chalky - you're so clever. They all look amazing and I love the colours you've chosen. Well done. Yes, I am slightly over-excited about it all now. My DS2 had put a comment on Facebook that said 'will it be today?', so I had to phone DIL in case that meant she had started labour! She hasn't, but the baby has dropped and the movement has slowed down, signs that it is imminent if I remember rightly. She also can't stop cleaning; well, nest-building really. Another sign. I jump every time the phone goes! I also keep seeing beautiful little baby clothes here but I shall just have to wait until it's born - I can buy some white things but the boys' and girls' stuff in particular is really tempting!
Anyway, will try and catch up later. Hope you are all having a great day.

Evening all...thanks for lovely comments re the shawl and cake...she loved the cake (she has 3 boys and think feels the need for girliness at times!) and have given cousin a sneak preview of the type and col of yarn which she loved...sure she will love the end product but will gve it to her on my bday weekend ...I wont wait until Christmas!!
Dont know if people know but hobbycraft have a wool sale! Got a couple of balls for 99p...also woman in works mum is going to knit the french market bag up for me and hopefully another friend of a friend will felt it for me...she only wanted a fiver to knit the bag so will think of an extra pressie to go in it!
How you doing today Elaine? Hope the being at home sights and smells are a comfort for you...Hope you are ok maytaurus? Chalky love those bits n bobs...what do you use them for? Framed would be nice or on cards or do they go togeather to make a specific something? Hope hangovers etc gone! Hugs all...on with the shawl!
Forgot to say that knitting with beads not as hard as I thought...you basically thread the beads at the start, then when pattern says slide a bead to front of knit stitch, slip next stitch and then put yarn to back to knit next stitch...(the thing I didnt do before and kept adding a stitch!!)...Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Hi everyone. I'm just about to start updating. Pam (Prfungi) has very kindly offered to do it for me while I'm away, which is wonderful of her:A, so thank you Pam, very very much.
Did about four rows of knitting last night then some friends Skyped us from the UK so we spent the rest of the evening talking to them:D! Really, it was eight rows because I'm doing the sleeves to a baby cardi together, mainly because I'm running out of the wool I'm using for it.When the wool runs out, the sleeves will match each other; because it's multi-coloured wool, I can pick a colour to finish them off. Sounds complicated but I think I know what I'm doing!:rotfl:
I've managed to get loads done this morning - apart from the ironing, which I will do after I've done the update. I've put it all ready so I don't 'forget' to do it!
I don't plan to go anywhere today, so I hope to get some knitting done this afternoon. Chalky's lovely appliques have made me want to try some, too, but I really must not start anything else until I've finished the cardie for the new baby, and made some more things for charity. I already have the name-buntings in my head, itching to be made for Christmas! I might even make my Mum one for fun. Her name is Lily May, so not too many letters!
Hope you all have a great day.

Morning all
Well done ISOM - have never been brave enough to try beading and I love the cake.
Chalky, what lovely appliques. What will you do with them? Decisions!
Still working through my stash, trying to do a bigger project with one of my old readicut deliveries along with little stuff but spending far too much time surfing for patterns for other things! My shortie needles haven't arrived yet but they are coming from America so will have to be patient.
Must go and do some laundry as have a huge stack of it and the same weather as Mrs MP so drying will be fun . This horrible weather is really getting on my nerves now, it's like the complete opposite of the Fast Show "Scorchio" sketch. Right, off to do some chores.
Hope everyone is well x0
