Shelly: Sorry to hear you haven't been well. That blinking swine flu is even in our tiny little village now! I suppose it's only a matter of time until we all get it.

I have quite a collection which will add to your totals once I get them sent. Trying to get a box full and send them with that cheaper courier... just need to find a box the right size, but I only get to the shops twice a week and always seem to forget to look for one. :o

Anne: That little boy is sure bringing a lot of joy to your family :). My niece and her two boys are up from London for a couple of weeks, so I've had them all for dinner. Then SIL and two honorary great-nieces turned up... so had four of them 2 - 6 years, running riot all afternoon... what a mess! :rotfl:

Hope everyone else has had a good day, and that the sun has been shining as brightly as it has here.

Everyone on this thread is so caring, thoughtful and empathic
Started this post 10pm Monday 13th so please bare with me as I catch up with you all in a mega post
Afraid I didn’t manage to get out of bed till 8pm today (so annoying, but que Sera, Sera)

I’ve just phoned Mum & Dad & Mum seems to be having a better day today, she knew who I was, though still had to ask where I lived, but when I told her she could see the side of my house from her lounge window, she said ‘oh that’s right I remember now’ ,a minute later, the same question, Bless.
I haven’t been so good and there has been a lot going on with Mum, family inc dog and 2 of the soldiers who were killed this week, had been trained by my son, so a lot to think about

So sorry to hear about the heartbreak with your Mum, it is awful when you’ve seen them always so active, caring & positive and then getting ill

My dog Zen is thankfully a little better
They don’t seem to really know what has been causing his problems, but the £400 + so far spent on vets bills seems to be achieving something.
He has to go back to the vets on Friday, when we’ll see the usual vet as he’s back off holiday, so I’ll hopefully feel better about things when we’ve seen him.

I hope your hand is ok
I will join you in the naughty corner, as I have had my paperwork to go for more x-rays & blood tests for several weeks now & have still not been, just haven’t been well enough to go
Hopefully will manage it this week

I did manage to find some ‘baby vest’ type patterns and thought they might be easy & ok for some of the ‘Loving Hands’ projects?

So sorry to hear about your terrible experience of losing 3 dogs in 6 months
You must be heartbroken
It’s terrible when you lose a loved pet member of the family and I don’t think it ever gets easier
I have found that having more than one dog eased the pain a little for me in the past as you can hug & lavish your attention on the the ones still with you and remember all the good times you’ve had and console yourself a bit, by knowing they had a good loving home with you
To lose all 3 in 6 months must have been devastating!
I hope you can enjoy another dog eventually, as they are so wonderful, affectionate, & loyal and deserve to have loving owners like yourself
I hope all is going well in France

chalky 75
I know what you mean about the animal sanctuary / shelters
I have permanently banned myself from ever going to one, as I would want to re home them all & could never just choose 1
I told my daughter not to go their, when a friend asked her to accompany her 10 yrs ago, she said ‘I’ll be ok mum, I’m only going with her for support’
I didn’t see her that week & I just knew she’d not been able to resist bringing an animal home.
I rang her & she said ‘mum I’ve got something to tell you’ just as I heard a deep woof !
‘Would that be anything to do with the woofing I’ve just heard then?’ I asked
Hmmmm.... she still has the German shepherd cross Rottweiler that was on death row with 7 days left at the age of 8 mths!!
She visited him every day to walk him and on the last day when no one had taken him, she paid for him and brought him home!!

Please will you pm me the address for the squares as I have done 1 large & 1 small and I’m in the middle of another large one for which I will also make the matching small one.

Good morning everyone. I've overslept and have loads to do today. DH is off work because we have a lot of fiddly errands to run which we are trying to do in one day (!), so I probably won't get time to update until tomorrow. I haven't had time to read the thread since yesterday, but will catch up with you all later today and, as I say, do the update tomorrow. Oh, how I hate waking up later!!

Have a lovely day, all of you lovely people, and a warm welcome to Fizz. Great to have you with us.

Maytaurus - your post crossed with mine. Great to have you back. I'm longing to read your post but I have to dash. It'll give me something to look forward to when I log back on! I hope you have a good day today.

Morning all

Kathy overslept ....well I never did whatever next.....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Maytaurus - lovely to see you back, your posts just get better and better:A Love the little feller :dance:dancing. Thanks for looking out for the fairy pattern for me, I had another look the other day and fairy jumpers dont seem to be about.

Welcome to you Fizz :wave:be warned this thread is very addictive

Pam - thanks for the links, I never thought of doing them that way, I like the look of the way they go together.

Lorna - ah thanks, yes he is bringing us all a lot of joy, DS2 once said to me, "Mom I have everything anyone could ever want, own house, flat in Spain, a thriving business a lovely wife but the one thing we both want we cant have" well it broke my heart to hear him say that, if anyone was meant to be a Dad he was.
We were so pleased when they decided to go the adoption route, and now we have our DGS, just have to wait for the adoption to go through now, the court case should be in September.

Got to go shopping for wool today  no!!! only one ball I ran out last night and need enough to finish the last sleeve of the rainbow jumper I started Saturday.
Off for a :coffee:now
back later with my update.

morning all

Elaine i pray you are coping and feeling well in yourself, i wish we could offer more than sympathy.

Brilliant to have you back maytaurus:T

welcome to any newbies

hugs for everyone, especially those who need them :grouphug:

wet miserable weekend. but we took the kids to see imagine that on free tickets nice feel good film that had me blubbing near the end (i was glad it was dark in there) ;)

been busy doing school blanket squares all weekend. im now on my 8th orange one, so only 42 more to go:T. DD is going down the co-op/post office today so shes getting me some white wool as ive totally run out of that:eek:. ive promised myself ill finsih the orange and get the yellow done before i start on the LH autumn challenges, but i cant wait to get going on those. the boobs, prem baby christmas hats and little toys should fly off the needles faster than the sands blankets did.

we have blue skies here so im going to get a load of washing in and out on the line before it changees its mind.

:coffee:also mental note to self, must see if i can book a table for tomorrow night (we have decided to take the inlaws and the kids out for a meal to help us celebrate our 25th wedding anni tomorrow.) cant believe its that long ago i walked down the aisle and wouldnt want to imagine life without the kids. when we were discussing wether to go on our own or as i family i said to DH it would be nice to take his mum and dad as they've been really good and helped us out over the years (DH is an only one and they live really close) and we wouldnt be who or what we are now without the impu from the kids. DH did say yes the contribution they've given is to make us older greyer add worry lines and take away money:rotfl:.
