Chalky, what a wonderful idea, count me in too I shall start my squares this weekend.

Pam, I agree I think Elaine would find some comfort in our chatter and as a place to escape when she needs to.

    Take care all.x

Afternoon ladies - I am sure there must have been some 'virtual telepathic' thoughts - had a similar thought myself - well done Chalky for suggesting - count me in - although as usual I am doubting my abilities to undertake the Linus blanket but will have a go (if not will just be two plain squares!)

I agree with all the posts in the last few days - we dont know each other - other than through the computer BUT it feels like you are all in my living room sharing a cuppa and our problems and I am guilty of a good waffle when I get going but I am sure none of you mind and are all patient enough to read.

Love to you all - Im off to get going Jaqui xxxxx

  • count me in too. I had thought of making one special item to donate to Loving Hands in Jim's memory, but think that the blanket from all of us is a better idea. I just have a sun top to finish tonight (my last item for the LH challenge parcel) and then will get started on my squares. I've just printed off the pattern for the "log" squares - so if I can work it out I might get started tonight.

Makes you feel better when you can do something practical to help!!

    Hi In Search of Me

Here is the link to the blanket and thanks for joining in
    http://projectlinusuk.org.uk/index.p...d=34&Itemid=37

It looks trickier than it is I promise-- I am not that good at following tricky patterns so it must be easy.

It is just a case of it being a bit different as you knit a block ,then cast off to the last stitch then cast on and knit in a square. It is interesting to do.

If you would rather you could always just knit a square as per the instructions in post no 3818.

    Good Luck

  • Chalky - that is a very easy pattern to follow - I am dim when it comes to hand knitting (not much better on the machine either but that's yet another story). I have just completed the little square surprised at how quickly it knitted up, so I shall do the big one either tonight or tomorrow can you PM me the address to send them to and I can get them both away on Monday?
Miolliere-should we list them on the weekly totals and do you want us to list our weeks totals this week?

    Hi all
just been shopping with OH and had to buy some wool to start my squares and for the first time he said nothing when I told him the reason why I was buying it, he thinks that we are a caring lot and now sees that what we do helps everyone who needs a hug via the web

Looks like we're going to have some great blankets! Think I might try the log cabin for the bigger squares and maybe design something for the smaller ones. What is everyone else going to do?

In the spirit of keeping the wittering going, I've been trying to teach myself to use dpns. In common with my early adventures in crochet, I feel like I don't have enough hands! I'm going to give up for a while and try again in a few weeks. Going to look for some wool tomorrow if I get chance and get started on my squares.

Large square has been started using Linusproject pattern - once I had started it became apparent - I took it with us to the park whilst the boys played cricket - I too explained to hubby and son what it was for when asked - they also said it was a lovely thought - had to ring mum though to ask how to 'pick up' - i think i might be inspired to do a baby blanket like this after - Jaqui xx
PS Chalky - my second Square Person has just left the needles this morning thanks to you xx

    Hi Everyone
Great to see how people have embraced this idea and glad the Linus pattern is working for people. I am really enjoying the pattern for a change. 1 thing that really helps when it comes to picking up the stitches is if you have followed the pattern by always slipping the first stitch in every row. Makes the pick up row smooth.

I spoke to Lou from loving hands earlier and Elaine (psso) works very closely with Loving Hands -- I think she is a co-ordinator of 1 of their groups in Scotland and Lou thought what we are all doing is going to be lovely. I wanted to check with her what is the most useful size to make the blanket for Charity in Memory of Elaines husband Jim,

Of course if Elaine does visit this thread she might like to choose a specific charity herself so I will leave that open for now.

Have peaceful evenings everyone and gentle thoughts to all
