Hi everyone - hope you are all well.

I should have been back on here earlier but we didn't get back from our friends' place until late this afternoon, then I had to go and buy some food, then cook the dinner, and now I can sit down - while DH mows the lawn!

The car boot went very well but I had no time to browse or buy (probably just as well!) because I was taking orders for the fish and chip van. That was a riot because we were so busy and I got all my languages messed up, so was sending in orders for fish and frites, or peche and chips! The van sells other meals, too, and every time I went through the list of various sauces, the customers laughed. For some reason, when I said 'sauce blanche' they all thought it was hysterical! Mind you, the beer tent opened at 8am and people had been getting tanked up since then! The men were drinking (the British beer that they really love) and their wives were running the stalls - every so often, one of the wives would try and get their man to help with the stall, but it all fell on deaf ears. By comparison, the Brits were very well behaved and none of them wanted to start drinking just after breakfast! The whole of the green outside our friend's house was full of stalls, and it was all very good-natured and friendly. Over 500 euros was raised for the charity (to spay and neuter stray cats), so it was a great success. We were treated to delicious scampi and chips for dinner, too.

As for knitting, I managed to knit one Innocent Smoothie hat on the way there, but that's all. Will try and get stuck in a bit more this week because DH is working all week (on a house we nearly bought, when we were looking for a place, so I'm sure he's looking forward to a good nose at it!), so I should have some spare time.

I'll catch up with the rest of the thread that I've missed since I left yesterday, and update, tomorrow.

Elaine - hope DH is doing well.

Chalky - I can imagine having the album and CD as a present brought all the happy memories back for you!

F1Widow - sorry you've been under the weather.

Pippa - hope you had a good time.

Maytaurus - hope you are having a good day.

Goodnight and good morning, Chalky!! Thought I'd get in first!

Not good news - DH is VERY POORLY. Went back into intensive care on Sunday after developing pneumonia. Attached to lots of machines, heart, lungs and kidneys are not working and we spent all day yesterday -13 hours - at the hospital, managing to pop in 3 or 4 times to see him in between the staff working on him. Been warned that things are not looking good for him.

elaine - wishing you all the best and of course to your husband and the rest of your family. it must be traumatic seeing him attached to all those machines, but be strong for him and i am sure that we will all say prayers and send positive thoughts.

if there is anything that we can do (long distance) other than the above, please let us know.

    much love and support

Oh! Elaine I am so sorry to hear things are not progressing as well as you had hoped. The feeling of powerlessness is almost overwhelming at such times. I am going to join with all your friends here to sending loving thoughts to you and your family and we all hope there is better news for you all very soon.

    Will pop back later.
Try and do a good deed every day.
