Morning ladies - hope everyone well today - I think perhaps Chalky missed my question - on her photo of the hedgehogs (a few days ago) there was also one of some funny little square people - can anyone point me in the direction of the pattern

Elaine - hoping everything going ok with you

    kind regards - Jaqui xx

    Hi Jacqui
    Sorry I missed you !!
The square people are as follows
(These numbers are changeable if you want to alter the size)

CAST ON 20 STITCHES AND KNIT IN STOCKING STITCH FOR AS LONG AS YOU WANT HALF THE BODY TO BE.
0N THE NEXT KNIT ROW KNIT 2 STITCHES. CHANGE WOOL COLOUR AND KNIT ACROSS 6 STITCHES TURN AND JUST USING THESE 6 STITCHES GARTER STITCH 1 LEG ( AGAIN YOU CAN MAKE IT AS LONG AS YOU LIKE.
This next bit sounds complicated but its not. Promise.
WITH THE 6 LEG STITCHES STILL ON YOUR NEEDLE (AND THE INITIAL 2 AT THE BEGINNING OF THE ROW) KNIT ACROSS 4 MORE STITCHES IN THE BODY COLOUR (This is the crotch of the toy) CHANGE TO LEG COLOUR AND KNIT ACROSS ANOTHER 6 STITCHES AND GARTER STITCH THE SECOND LEG.
CHANGE BACK TO BODY COLOUR AND KNIT ACROSS FINAL 2 STITCHES ( All the stitches should now be on one needle with 2 loops for legs.)

Continue the back of the toy in Stocking stitch until you are about 3/4 of the way up and then Cast on 12 stitchesand garter stitch on these 12 stitches to make 1 arm (as fat as you like but I usually do about 6 rows).Cast off the 12 stitches you have cast on this leaves 1 arm.

In body colour knit across the body and turn. Cast on12 stitches and do the second arm .Cast off the arm stitches and finish back of body to match the front in length.

Sew all the saems and stuff. Sew the top closed and add hair and features

If you get stuck I will help and if you would like I have 1 on the needles at the moment so I could take pistures of the processes. Hope it makes sense but I am sure it will when you get going. I suppose you could just knit a square and sew the limbs on but I like the way they feel an integral part of the toy . Good Luck

Chalky - thank you so much for typing all that out - sorry to nag - at the moment I am into making something different - my little boy saw your pics and wants one desperately!!!! and as his school report was sooooo good i thought i would do one as a treat

Are you sending your toys to loving hands ? - Are they still wanting Trauma Toys? Thought I might get a stock together for the xmas boxes for the church - if not the charity craft group might like some As fast as the hedgehogs are flying off the needles they are being abducted into my sons room !!

Anyway Im off to have a go - will let you know how I get on - might be some time though (i have a couple of piles of ironing that my hubby said looked like a copy of the Alps - he could always have a go at it himself :p does he not realise I have knitting !!!)

Thanks once again - your a star! - Jaqui xxx

Sorry me again - Does anyone have a problem with pressing the 'Thanks' button - I have tried a couple of times to thank people for their posts and it wont register mine - not sure why

Anyway - THANKS (especially Chalky who has now given me an excuse not to iron)

    Part of the Furniture
    Hello all :hello:
I'm back from sunny Dorset, and it sure was sunny, we had the best weather so far this year I think :T
DS1,DIL and DGD's could'nt make it they had something else on. We were
a bit disapointed but it could'nt be helped

Had a good drive around the coast and visited a few old haunts from when DS1 and 2 were young.
Lulworth Cove was first, we havent been there for years it was still the same in many ways, but different IYSWIM, more developed but not overdone.
Gave Corfe Castle a miss though as it was sooo crowded.

Called in at Portland yesterday to see OH's Aunt, then went out to the Bill for a walk around and a breath of fresh air.
They are getting on well with preparations for the Olympics down on Chessil, its where a lot of the water based activities/competitions will be held so Aunt said.

Weymouth was nex,t for a stroll along the front, I reckon its the best beach anywhere, then went to a restaurant on the front, sat upstairs looking out over the bay as we ate our lunch,
Called in at Swanage for a wander, then drove out to the ferry and went back across to Poole.

(Tell you what these Sun Deals are great value, we did'nt need tokens this time we were lucky enough to get a priority form so we booked online and knew where we were going straight away):D

I even managed some knitting and crochet ;) a baby jumper and some more on my ripple blanket. I will update next week when I have some more things done.
Hope you are all well, off to read back now

hi all - maytaurus tout va bien, merci beaucoup. i am still at french lessons (for the rest of the week) but it is really impacting on my productivity - i want to try to complete the blanket for my neighbour in france and my second animal blanket by the end of next week, so ... if anyone sees a bright flashing light, its my hook going 10 to the dozen.

hope that everyone is well, and best wishes for Elaine and all others with illness preying on their loved ones, or on them like maytaurus - we are behind you and thinking of you all the time.

by the way, chalky, my MIL has a hedgehog in her back garden, he is a new visitor and she is very proud that he has chosen her garden to visit for the moment - anyway i told the family all about your addiction and they were tickled - i think that if they could have, they would have adopted a couple of your little babies as they are so lovely. as have now named our hedgehog harold - following your lead.

best wishes all - off to do some homework (i am sure i am far too old to be doing homework!!!!!!!!!)

    have a great evening
