Shezmit - Parcel on it's way to you, a bit of a mixture in it, buntings, a couple of boobs, also a crib (lc wilson's pattern) I'm not sure if I have stuffed the mattress too much though, if it's no good I'm happy to do another one.

Talking of cribs does it have to be carte dor tubs as I have a couple of the asda own brand tubs that are a similar size, are they ok to use?

If you still need help I'd be happy to sew up and do faces for the teddies.

Elaine - thinking of you, hope you are as well as you can be.x

    take care all.x

Chalky - you're so right. You always find the right words. You definitely speak for me, too; I've been thinking about Elaine and her husband all day.

(((Hugs))) to you and him, Elaine.

Elaine...lots of prayers going up and hugs winging over the internet to you all...hope you have loving/practical support for you too...the body is a remarkable thing...
Last night knitted a head band! Fringe is driving me nuts as keeps going in face which is no good with crafty things! Didnt find any I liked and found a pattern on the lion site so thanks whoever posted that...
Can anyone recc a quick one night pattern? The squares now have a large contributers list here (church and work!) so in addition to the shawl (which takes forever!) need something quick for the days I cant face a long row!!
    Hugs those that need them...

    Hi InSearchOfMe
    Try this one...

Shez always needs these. You don't need to line or ribbon them and they are quite straightforward and should be easy enough when you fancy something quick.

I've just done 2 cribs for honorary great nieces, and 2 spare sets of covers in a different colour.... that's an awful lot of cribs

Anyway, I used an asda tub for one of them. The covers fitted really well, but I think the depth was just slightly more on the asda one... I maybe should have added about another 4 rows or so to the outside - they weren't too bad at all though.

Kathy: I'm not updating my totals this week as I haven't gotten much done.

Had to get the cribs done for Emily's 6th birthday today, and of course couldn't leave 3 year old Amy out. Then I knitted them both a Jean Greenhowe rainbow doll. First time I'd attempted them and they turned out great. Only one problem... my dog meg (who has the biggest toy collection in the doggy world) tried hard to stake her claim to one of them. I'm feeling so sorry for her that I'm going to have to knit her one of her own. She needs to have a squeak in each and every toy though, so one of her older ones is going to have to be sacrificed to give up it's squeak for the greater cause. Then I've just been told what a good idea they would be for the next fair at Zaki's school  Good job they are very quick and easy to knit... and not *too* much sewing.

Hope everyone is doing ok. Mam has had a few yellow days, but is otherwise well. Alan is doing great, he just needs to remember not to do too much... that's almost impossible with him though. Susan had her second round of chemo last week, and hasn't been too bad apart from sores in her mouth. She has four more rounds to go, and then hopefully will be clear to have reconstructive surgery.

Just been watching Michael Jackson memorial and while some of it was a bit over the top there were some very touching moments - had a tear or two when Jermain sang 'Smile'. And I felt so much for his little girl, having lost my own dad when I was 14 it touched a nerve. Can't say much about his private life because you never know how much you can believe, but he sure was one heck of a performer.

Well, maybe do a few more rows of knitting whilst I'm watching an X-Files episode on my pc... then hopefully get a couple of hours sleep. Need to be fit and alert ready for the start of the ashes tomorrow ;)

    morning all
lots of kind thoughts and love going to Elaine
LC hope everything continues to progress for your loved ones.

hugs and good wishes to everyone

Ive started a blanket, its a sort of personal donation to my sons school, they are celebrating their 70th birthday this year and the houses are all named after local soldiers who lost their lives in the 1st world war. Im planning to make a blanket of 70 squares in the 7 house colours. the most ambitious part will be trying to work out how to knit the initial letter of each soldiers surname onto the first square of each row, and in the centre im hoping to do squares with the school initials and the years on:eek: i think i will try a sort of moss stitch effect for the letters and numbers. we do a governors hamper when the children compete with each others form to see which can collect the most hampers for local age concern im hoping to get it completed by christmas so it can go in with the hamper donations to riase some money in some way for the school and the charities they help.
so far ive made 3 red squares:rotfl:.
