Hi all - just posting today's Annie's Attic freebie - it's a dishcloth pattern to crochet, but would look lovely made bigger for a blanket.

  • Morning all (just) been up since dawn and am shattered again, it just gets too hot to do much in the afternoons although I managed to pick the blackcurrants this morning so its jam making after lunch in the cool of the kitchen. Also have three students this afternoon for conversational English (or in my case Scottish), so no chance of any knitting or sewing. Hope your all keeping well and having a great day.
Oh Miolliere if the farmer calls any of the calves Monsieur Eskimo - they are heading for the freezer - I found this out quite by accident while feeding calves one day

Jean - thanks for the info re M Eskimo! At the moment, there's not a cow in sight; they're all taking shelter in the barn from the baking sun. Sounds like you've got a busy afternoon ahead of you - hope you manage to take a break.
I love the idea of you teaching conversational Scottish to French people!

Hi all, wheww it`s hot isn`t it ?

Just popped in while having a cuppa before taking the wee one to nursery.

Kathy, I couldn`t find the pattern for the blanket at first either, so had another look and found it ( there are a few project linus pages - link below)

    http://projectlinusuk.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=34&Itemid=37

Right, cuppa`s finished, off to do the nursery run then try to find a space in the hospital car park - meeting wee one`s mum for coffee / sandwich if I can find a space - if not she`ll just drive off and I`ll nip in to her one - good planning eh?

    see you later.

Thanks for that Elaine - great pattern, isn't it? Good luck finding a parking space!

Well, I've just uploaded some photos of our little corner of France on Facebook. I'll take some more later but the batteries are going in the camera!

Hope everyone is well, and not too hot!

Oh gosh it's hot here too!! Wish I didn't have to be at work - would rather be at home. Only thing is, when I'm knitting my hands get really hot, I keep having to stop and put some baby talc on to keep them dry and cool. Still, at least the knitting smells nice!!
Mioliere - Just printed off the annie's attic pattern. Thought I would probably use it as blanket squares or a preemie blanket with some extra stitches.
I have a bit of an addiction about using washcloth patterns for blanket squares. I'm always looking for different ideas - knitting pattern central have some good ones. Just another knitters addiction I suppose!! There's always a new one to add to the list.
    I'm Ann and I'm a knit-a-holic!!!

    Keep cool everyone.

Hi Ann - I find a wet wipe (cheapie ones!), or some of that hand gel stuff that dries on your hands, is great for keeping my hands clean and non-sticky, when I'm knitting. If you keep the wet wipes in the fridge, they are perfect for cooling off at this time of year, and for wiping the inside of the car, when the dust finally gets to the really embarrassing stage! The hand gel is ideal to keep in your handbag, too, when you have to use a grotty public loo!

I'll try the hand gel - I always have a bottle in my hand bag, for small nephew and niece and not so small husband and son!!! Magicool spray is good as well but it's quite expensive. We all use that when we go linedancing, especially in this weather. Red faced and sweaty is not such a good look!!

Hi Ann - if I remember right, Savers in the UK have their own version of Magicool - for a lot less money. If you have a local Savers, worth looking out for. Another thing I do, I have a couple of mini spray bottles (less than £1 in Superdrug); filled with water and kept in the fridge, they're really useful on a hot day. You can hide them in your hands, sneak up and squirt husbands with them, too! One of my favourite pastimes this time of year!
