Me back again, just completed some more project washables for the Algerian ladies and came up to do a parcel for LH, so thought I would just pop in and see what was happening.
CHALKY – you are a one, oh I have the lavender and the geraniums and herbs but just go take a look on the wooligans and see the sweat shop and ONE corner of the barn. The loft above it is even more stuffed........You paint a beautiful picture of what it could be like ONE DAY
MAYTAURUS your wee pictures are just so appropriate – I still haven't tried your guide on how to post a picture on the forum..........too busy is my excuse and I am sticking to it
PIPPA.S – no wool out there but plenty material, my complete train layout all in boxes, DH'S bikes AND beer, books, couple of dust bins, hostess trolley and bits and bobs plus tons I can't even remember PROMISE I WILL clear it one day.
MOILIERE suggest you get rid of the birdies nests at the end of the season – we did have swallows in that barn when we first arrived and they do keep on coming – oh and an owl in the outbuilding – WHAT A HOOT!!!!!!!! Groan.
PURPLETEDDYBEAR – love the lacey bunting, will go and get a printout of the patter soon OH was it your baby DD who infected my DH with the shingles then? We can't work out where he caught them from – blotches are not his strong point. Hope she is soon on the mend, and your christening sounds as if its going to be terrific, hope it goes well for you all.
K2TOG – you got there for SOON2B sharpish, oh did you get an address for the Algerian stuff. I have decided that because of the previous history between France and Algeria I shall send mine via Lou at LH
MRS MONEYPENNY - think you are right, we are all trying to get the knitting, sewing, crochet done as well as look after all our "normal" day to day jobs - which reminds me I better go and get the wahsing in before the next dollop of rain arrives.
Best I go and get that parcel stuffed with as much as I can fit in the box – back later then

Re; ’Roamin I think you are just kidding-- I think it is a ploy to stop us coming to you for the knitting/crochet convention. Sorry, doesn't work for me. I see filtered sunlight playing on beams, bunches of lavender and herbs making a beautiful background aroma, geraniums on the steps and sills, antique white cotton voiles flapping softly at the windows and inspiring music playing whilst you hum and sing and sew !!!!,

Re;’I have a barn and it's nowhere near as glamorous as that! Mind you, the pigeons and swifts seem to think they can live there rent free and are nesting in it, so it must be 'home sweet home' for some!’
yes you’re right .... like roamin in the gloamin said ‘think of the folk that only get snow snow snow - which is where I would like to live’

Congrats on your wool bargain!

Hi Gillypep, and welcome to the thread!
Roamin - I love the photos of your barn! You can tell it's French!
We've been asked to look after our neighbours' pets when they go away (from tomorrow until Sunday). They have a dog, a rabbit and a fish. We've been invited round for beers this evening, so I shan't be knitting or crocheting - more like improving my French, hopefully, and not getting too tiddly! We're very flattered to be trusted with the animals, and the keys to their house, as we've only been here a couple of months. I hope the pets our efforts!
The weather has been lovely today, after a gloomy start, so I've planted up my tomato plants now.
Anyway, will see you all tomorrow. Have a great evening.

Hi all
Re my lacey bunting, am still working on ironing out a couple of little bugs in the pattern (basically where you cast off for the hood) as I'm not entirely happy with the way it looks. As soon as I have sorted them then i will happily pass the pattern on.
Have been working on a similar one this evening, but when it's finished it looks odd as I didn't have enough sts on, so it's not wide enough and is too long, so it looks like a bunting fit for a Barbie doll!! EAsy fixed though.
DD went down at 6.30 and is still asleep, so looks like the anti-itch stuff has done the job abd DH and i will get more sleep tonight.
Night night all,
Dawn xx:hello:0 -
Love your bunting Purpleteddybear.
Roamin', Chalky has given you the vision now - lavender and geraniums all the way!
Anne, DH and I have a very good and honest relationship - except where wool purchases are concerned :rotfl:but then, he thinks I don't know when he is buying camera bits - knowledge is power and all that
I finished DS1's blind today - it certainly isn't perfect but ain't bad. I had the sewing machine out for that so did some STs for LH. I am not a good stitcher and the layers kept sliding all over the place  any tips gratefully received. Got one complete set finished except the bag which I think I may leave. Enlisted DH to do some cutting for me which was a help. Going to do some more tomorrow evening and then pack the machine away for a while I think - we need a break from each other! Also did a green and mint boob so not doing a bad job at pegging back the stash. Need too finish a cardi thing I've had on the needles for ages but I know it will take ages to work out where I am on the pattern so keep putting it off but it would take up less space in the wardrobe than in its current state! Work tomorrow so less needle n hook time.
Off to bed now, shouldn't have stayed up so late!0 -
Good morning everyone. I'm a little hungover from last night. Our neighbours invited us over for a drink (or three or four!). Had a couple of beers and then some tiny glasses of their homemade brews, including a lovely aperitif made from hazlenuts - gorgeous. DH tried something that was way too strong for me, at 55% alcohol - he has barely moved all night!
I don't think I'll be doing too much today - a great excuse to sit down with my crochet, I think.
I must take some photos of my barn. At the moment, it's too spiderey for me to want to spend any time in it! DH uses it for storage, but there is also a lot of rubbish in it from the previous owner. We'll need to get a skip to take it all away, eventually.
Anyway, the weather looks promising, so I hope it stays that way.
I'll call back later.
