Hi F1Widow - sorry about that! I'll put it right later on today or tomorrow. When I was doing the update, I wasn't sure what I was doing! You're not being a pain - I am!

I'm not sure if anyone else is collecting the OCC hats - if they are, perhaps they could post on here?

  • Chalky - you should get out more - especially if you see me romatically in our barn.........the cows moved out 16 years ago and all I did was sweep the floor then we moved a load of furnature, bikes, old hoovers and a load of packing boxes in. We have renovated the whole place BUT are yet to get around to the barn - like walls would be good instead of bare granite stone, I have sectioned off one end in order to sew and Lou (LH) believes it to be a sweat shop, the machines are up by the french doors and I have hung curtains and sheets from the beams - so I am not distracted by the mess and having to deal with it - most of the stuff belonged to my parents or my parents in law or various other's who have passed on, every summer I say I will deal with it BUT I only manage to clear a couple of bags out and then I have to give up - too painful for me to carry on. DH is extremely patient and I promise ON HERE right now I will make another attempt at it when the weather improves. The knitting machines are up in the office, so I make the excuse that I am doing "accounts", "research", "corrispondence" and slope off and use them ha ha. What the eye don't see the heart don't grieve over and all that.
Managed a dog blanket - I am trying to use up all the scraps of machine wool, and another 4 face cloths - I really have taken to them.
You painted such a wonderful picture of me I am so sorry I had to distroy it. Still keeping digits crossed for the good weather for you this weekend, promise I will have the rain on your behalf.
Off to see my neighbour - who have just got a new puppy - soon to be trained cow dog we hope.
Jean in France - rains gone off now

Sent you a small parcel this morning. Just a couple of blankets and a few odds and bobs... including a couple of Aaron squares :rotfl:

Also a crochet bib. Could you let me know if it's ok in size please - It was actually a pattern for a full size one and I've altered it to about half... not bad considering I've only been doing crochet a couple of weeks :D
Totals: 30 Buntings, 2 Gowns, 13 Chalky Squares
  • Hi all,

Yet again, I didn't get my latest updates in on time, and I will endeavour to get them up in time for next week. I have a bag full of bits that need finishing (a few hedgehogs, hats etc)., but I need to be in the mood for finishing off and it's not happening at the moment!

I have played with a bunting pattern today and done one in an all over lacy pattern which i think looks lovely. I have taken a picture, but at the moment can't find the camera lead to connect to the laptop to update it - heaven only knows where it is.

Am in middle of christening preparations for DD which takes place on the 7th June, about 3 weeks off now (has crept up on me). All the invitations made and sent, and had some lovely comments back about them. Scarlet coloured cards with butterfly cutouts, and the cutout bit has silver embossed butterfly vellum behind it (like thick tracing paper), with ivory vellum inserts with all the details on. All tied off with an amber coloured (old gold) ribbon - we're going with a butterfly theme and her cake has scarlet and amber butterflies all over it. Oh, btw, her name is Scarlett Amber!! well, the cake will have said butterflies all over it when I get round to making the cake. Need to get the thankyou candles into their favour bags with the butterfly confetti and the stars - that's the next christening job!

Knitting wise, as mentioned above I have lots of finishing to do, but need to be in the mood. There will be a parcel heading it's way to you Shelley when I sew it all up, I think there's some more buntings, a sleeping bag and definitely some odd boobs in there!

DS is over the chickenpops now, but DD has it, and poor little mite (only 8 months) is covered from head to foot in spots. have soaked her in calamine lotion and she's finally gone to sleep, hence catching up now. How long it will last I don't know!

Ah well, cup of tea and a choccy muffin calls.....

Hope we're all doing well, and hugs to everyone!

    Dawn x

  • Morning everybody,
I hope to be doing sweat shop Algerian Action sewing today.

Maytaurus - that photo is so close to the truth its frightening......perhaps not so many holes in my walls but the clutter is certainly of a high standard. Hot countries are no better for weather, the first thing you miss is the greenery and that cool dew you get first thing in the mornings, OK so rain is rain is rain, but think of the folk that only get snow snow snow - which is where I would like to live. I am not a great fan of the heat and sun but then being Scottish blue I burn easily so perhaps that's why I crave the cool?

Coffee over back to work, may you all have a glorious day regardless of what you are up to
