I know you can usually upload a picture straight here, but there will be restrictions on size etc. I find the following a much better way. May seem to be lots of instructions, but it's really easy and only takes a moment or two.
    • Make a folder on your desktop to put pictures in (makes it easier to find)
    • find a picture you want - right click on your mouse, and 'save picture as' save it into your new folder.
    • Look to where it says upload image, url, or video and make sure image is marked.
    • Just below that click on the 'browse' button and find your picture.
    • Next you can choose to resize the picture if you want, but I don't usually
    • Just below that is the 'start upload' button - click it and wait (doesn't take long at all, but give it a chance to move to the new page)
    • At top of new page you will see a few options for thumbnails of your pic, and if you want you can use these, but if you want the big picture ignore these.
    • Move further down page and look for 'hotlink for forums 1' Copy all the text in that box and paste it in your post here.
    • You won't see the pic until you submit your reply, but then there it will be in all of its glory :rotfl:

Pam, thank you very much - postie delivered it today! I am still working on the slanted shell patterned blanket (which is hooooge!) but have come to a standstill. I had a plan to use a big ball of aran as a stash busting exercise, but have used it all up and it really isn't long enough to call a blanket so am going to have to buy some more aran :o and I want to do it in 3 shades rather than 2 so it doesn't look odd so as a stash busting plan it sucks! I'm really pleased with how it looks so far though. I'm going to have a twiddle with the ripple blanket pattern that you posted a link to - she has some beautiful crochet on her site.
    Enjoy the wedding Chalky.
    Belated happy birthday Maytaurus.

    Hi all
Hope you dont mind me posting on your thread.
I see from the first page that you knit for good causes so i thought i'd add one.

Little Hen Rescue are trying to find home for 10,000 battery hens before the 28th June which is when they are due to go to slaughter.

The battery hens have very few feathers left so they are asking for knitters to knit them jumpers (very simple pattern)

If you'd like more info please look here

    Thanks :)

Welcome Hflower - what a deserving cause, poor chucks - I love chickens, can't keep them 'cos of a local covenant - shame.

I found the sewing pattern but I couldn't find a link for knitting pattern on the site, but managed to find one on Yahoo. As not all posters here have access to yahoo is it possible to get a knitting pattern link on the little hen rescue site?

Meanwhile peeps, I can email the knitting pattern if anyone wants it - pm me.

    luv

    Hi K2tog,
sounds like you've got the hang of it now, well it busted a bit of your stash but - oh no! sounds like you may have to go to a wool shop - what a chore!

The stuff I used to check my guesstimate was a scrap of Dusky Pink yarn from Mums bit bag, I have another almost full ball of the same - I also have the sweater she made from the same yarn - going to undo that to carry on the afghan - in addition I have two more of her sweaters one cream and a sage green so I thought big stripe of pink, narrow green, big cream, narrow green then pink to finish. I think this will be my "stand by" project - kept by my chair for when I need to chill out and just do something with my fingers - its that sort of soothing stitch. A sort of sentimental heirloom.

NB : I'm not robbing Mum of her woollies - she's only half the size now as she was when she made them!:rotfl:

Just finished the 2nd sleeve of yet another baby cardi that needs sewing up - yuck - I think that makes 4 now :o PamsPal keeps offering to sew for me - might just take her up on it.

Going to rummage through my patterns for my next charity project - maybe a chicken jumper just to check out the pattern!

    'bye for now

    Luv
    Pam:smileyhea

PS - I love the ripple pattern too. Think I'll do that for Mum but will have to think about the colours - oops may have to visit the woolshop - Hee hee!

    Ripples going well!
    Guess what though: question!
I'm doing the ripples in 2 colours and have just finished the second row of the second colour and need to switch back to the first. In crochet are you supposed to cut the yarn and rejoin or carry the colour up the side somehow?. Lovely lady on the ripple site doesn't seem to cover this. It must be what Jaqui calls a "la-la" question :o. Changing colours in crochet is all new to me!
    Definitely going to bed now....

Edit: Dawn, we have chickenpops here to with DS2 :( the rest of us have had it thank goodness.
Well done Lorna on your picture posts!

Good morning everyone and welcome to Hflower74. What a great cause; I hope every single chicken can be rescued. I couldn't find the knitting pattern either - just one to sew. I'll pm Pam and ask her to email the one she has found.

Lorna - those are great instructions, thanks. I've got a 'techie' folder so I've printed them off and added them to it.

K2tog - carry the colours up the side of the work, but make sure they are not pulling too tight as you go along, or else the edges will pucker up.

Well, not much knitting will go on tonight - we've been invited out for the evening, for dinner and live music, with friends of ours - we'll be staying the night with them so we can both have a glass or three.

I hope you all have a great day! Have a great wedding, Chalky!
