Hi there.
Zippitty - a square is as valuable as anything else we knit, and squares are what started this whole thread off in the first place, so I have a soft spot for them. They are also ideal for new knitters to practice with, so I think squares are brilliant!
Chalky - congratulations to your SIL for her new grandson! And well done to you for recruiting for us in Spain. We've gone global! If your knitters over there would like their names and items to go on our update list, please feel free to invite them. It's so nice of them to want to join in, isn't it?
I'm not very good with Facebook but I'll have a look for the link - hopefully, someone else on here is much better at FB than I am and will come along sooner!
Craftlady -thanks for your latest items! I will update in the morning.
Hope everyone has had some of this glorious sunshine!

Thank you sooooo much for the vids :smileyhea- i can now cast on perfectly and i am knitting something white and warm (no idea where i am going with it yet - maybe a yummy bunny!). Most of all I am getting a HUGE kick out of learning something new again - one question, if that's ok, -
 how do you know which needles to use for which wool
 AND how do you know how many stitches to cast on to make a 7 x 7 square ?
 AND is a 7 x 7 square in inches or cm?
oopsthat's THREE questions!
I :heart2: knitting now.
i have tried loads of times bfore and never 'got it' but i feel motivated and excited by it now. it will be a proud day when i send my first 'shaped' item to you!
THANKS FOR THE ENCOURAGEMENT!:T

hi chalky
any chance you can tell m how to make those cute monkeys - are they socks or something? i am a teacher and start my 'needlecraft' club next week - are these easy to make? they look adorable! even if too tricky i'd love to know - i'd like to make my new hubby one for valentine's day - his nickname for me is monkey :rotfl:
i wish i could send you something for your appeal but i am only just knitting rows ! it took me a whole day of blood sweat and tears to learn how to cast on! i've achieved that tho. who knows, soon i might be able to send something to someone. hope so.
