  • Pippa S - Anne, I wanted a pattern for basketweave socks, Pam was looking into how to convert the crochet basketweave blanket that was sent to Loving Hands from Cherrybee in Ireland.........so I found this thing called Entrelac but that was far too difficult for me - way over my head and I then found garterlac I gave it a try yesterday on big fat yarn and needles and its really addictive, so I plan sometime over the next couple of days to have a go on some thinner yarn....I think it would make a great wee blanket. So you just go do a google (DOUGALD) search (other search engines are available I believe) on criminy jickets blog and you can see what I am at least trying. Pam is doing her own thing with a load of trial and error I believe but like me she will not give up till she gets exactly what she is looking for - must be woman thing.

Chalky - take it like the tortoise - slow and steady, don't drive faster than you guardian angel can fly and all will be well, give the teds some air now and again please, don't want any fatalities. Do they have current passports? Or are they claiming political asylum when they get to blighty?

Hi Anne - Thanks for the info - I picked up the change from your totals when I cross checked my input - so No Problem:cool: :j

entrelec/garterlec????????? is part of what is becoming a shaggy dog story (or may yet be a Fantasy novel before we're done!) called - the search for a knitted "Interwoven Blanket" (see Loving Hand site theres a little thread under patterns and see Ireland group for pics of the crocheted versions). Jean (amongst others) likes the blanket but isnt crochet confident, I foolishly said I'd try to build a pattern  - first attempt failed :(so decided I needed different stitch patterns, Jean came up with entrelec/garterlec as an option for getting the look & she was trying it out last night. ....... big sigh - see - shaggy dog in the making.:rotfl: the challenge is fun though.:p

  • Hi all
Seems like ages since I've posted, and it probably has, but I've managed to keep up (just about) with all that's going on.

Will add a longer post later, but just a quick shout out to
Mrs MoneyPenny - parcel of chuckie ducks in the post to you today, so should be with you tomorrow in readiness for the weekend. Hope they arrive safely - DS was most concerned that they would be able to breathe in the box!!

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine, and big huggles to those who need them at the moment. :grouphug:

    With love,

Well I've nearly finished my first blanket - the double knitting one, I'm not as good at knitting as crochet, but I'm enjoying doing it!

I've got the wool to do another one, is it best to wait until I have a number of items to post? And do they need to be washed first? And the most important bit - where do I send them?

    Thank you!

If you send them to me at Preemiesuk, you don't need to wash them, if i feel that they are need a wash i will do it here thats not a problem,

You can send the blankets in bulk as it will be cheaper than posting them seperatley

Morning all - hope that you are well and that the weather your way is not too bad. to be honest, its quite nice here in london, so i think i should do some gardening in between all of the other jobs that my DH has allocated for me! however, i am first going to have a coffee and a quick knit and then get down to the tedious jobs that have to be done today.

have a lovely day and hugs to you all - even if you dont think you need them - they are in thanks for all the hard work that you do!

Good morning girls - sorry have been missing for a few days ......... big hugs to everyone and especially Shezmit - well done on your jump - very brave !!! (promise to send money this weeks hmmmmmmm forget my head if it were not screwed on - perhaps thats why housework never gets done - I just forget !)

Anyway I have a big plea for help!!!!!!!!.........I decided last night to start trying a "boob" and well I think I have "boobed" because Im stuck (just having one of my "la la" moments)

    Row 23 - K1 *k2tog, K4, rep from * to end then
Continue to decrease in this way and after 3rd decrease change to darker wool to make areola
(how many rows would this be after row 23 - does it mean do three rows like row 23 then change wool?)
Continue to decreasing until the K1, *K2 tog from * to end has been worked
(how many rows do I do this last sentence for????) (how many stitches should be left on needle before starting the nipple?)
    Nipple: st st 4 rows

If anyone can put this last bit into "la la" language I would be much appreciated - as I have said before it does not take me much to be confused .....:p:o:p

Thanks for any help that you can give me

mrs moneypenny - if kathy is having anything like the luck i am with french telecom, then we might be waiting quite a while. i keep on phoning them and they have this lovely long message that ends with "all of our operators are busy, please phone back later" - then the just cut you off! soooooooo frustrating!!!!
