Hi everyone.
I just wanted to tell you all about my situation and then explain this post. My OH retired in 2007 and we now spens about half the year (the cold half !!! ) in Spain. I have been knitting a lot for Loving Hands and a little for Premiess UK.
I went back tp Yoga class this morning after the Christmas Break and before Christmas the lovely lady who runs the class asked for some presents for the Orphanage in our nesrby town. I sent a sock monkey. I asked whether the presents had been well received this morning and she said they had. She then went on to say that a new baby had come to the home and they had no baby clothes whatsoever. Well of course I thought how sad it was and have already got my needles clicking but I was wondering if any of you kind souls could help with a little donation of a knitted item. Apparently the orphanage is not funded and relies on donations and even though they are desperate for baby clothes other knitted items would also be very welcome.
Kathy I in no way want to hijack this wonderful thread and all the other wonderful causes we all knit for but if anyone would like to help you could pm me and I could give you my sister in laws address in the UK as she is coming out to see me in 3 weeks and she could bring anything with her. If anyone needs help with the postage I would willingly send a cheque or refund your postage via Paypal
Thank you for reading this post and best wishes to you all
Hi Chalky,
Please can you pm with the UK address for the baby clothes.
No problem with p&p, anything to be of assistance, it's great that we can do something that will assist.

Hi everyone and warm welcomes to fizzel81 and Sheyo - great to have you with us and thanks for joining! Fizzel - there are links to learning-to-knit tutorials on the very first post on this thread and it's also worth asking in your nearest wool shop if they run classes. I know last year my local one held crochet classes. I keep meaning to ask them how successful it was but I daren't go in there because I'll buy even more wool! Also, your local shop may know of knitting clubs in your area. It's not a silly question, either - we all needed to learn. I was lucky - my Mum taught me. The online tutorials are very good - Maytaurus has found some excellent ones. She also posted a brilliant easy-to-understand tutorial of her own - you'll find that on the first post, too! Good luck - it's not as difficult as it looks, I promise, and it's so rewarding.
Maytaurus - thanks for the list of abbeviations and yarn weight equivalents - very useful both to newbies and oldtimers!
Pippa - you did make me laugh when I read your post about the jumper being suitable for an orangutan! It painted such a picture in my head!
Shez - that's a great contribution to Chalky's appeal! First parcel of finished Teds and eyed-up Chicks on their way back to you this morning, along with three buntings.
Loving Hands have got a great selection of new challenges, haven't they? I hope to do something for all of them. I love the idea of making toys to keep in emergency vehicles for children caught up on accidents.
Here's the latest update - please tell me if I've got anything wrong!
Have a great day, everyone!
KathyXX

Hello all you knitting nutters !
Hi mioliere
missed you this morning l-o-l
( I had a bit of complex reply to topic to do ... you may see it at some point  )
Things are going really well aren't they ?
I have to say I have some slight concern ....
about how chalky 75's sister is going to manage to get all the things in her luggage allowance
I also need the address to send some items to her .... will hopefully post a pic when I've got them together.

Hi Maytaurus
Hopefully, Chalky will be along with an answer to the luggage allowance question! I've pm'd you the address for sending to her sister. Good luck with your complex issue!

morning all,
shelly, i shall be sending my parcel off to you later this morning, containing, 7 burial buntings, 9 vent hats, andsome used postage stamps, can you let me know when they arrive please, just for peace of mind, so i know they have arrived safely.
while i been feeling unwell, have made a start on the IS hats as they are easy to do, so far 10 IS hats to update.
have started a jumper for chalky's appeal too, if you could pm your sister's uk address. was unsure of size, so i started a 22 inch, if it too big the baby will grow into it.
shaz xenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
Hi Shaz - well done on your totals and thanks for reminding me about used stamps; I have some to send to Shelley this morning when I return her Teds and Chicks. I hope you are feeling better today. I'll pm you Chalky's sister's address, although Chalky probably will, too!
I'll update tomorrow morning - I try just to stick to the same time each day to try and avoid getting them wrong!
