  • New to the forum. Have been given wool and needles by a friend who no longer needs them but as not in UK there is no indication on the label to what it is - feels like 4ply. Question is - can I knit or crochet the 7" squares with it - maybe doubled up?
Don't want to spend time doing them for them to be of no use.
Would bring them back to UK in a couple of months.
    Thank you

Hi Emsirrah and welcome to you! Where in the world are you?

It doesn't matter what type of wool is used for the squares (apart from the fancy fluffy ones, because they may irritate the skin - but they would do for sending to animal charities!). As long as they measure 7" square, they will be fine. Knitting or crochet is fine, too.

Take a look at the very first post on here - you'll find lots of useful details and info, but feel free to post any questions on here; there's always someone around to help!

    Kathy

By the way - thanks for making your very first post on MSE on this thread!

Hi Emsirrah and welcome to the thread

the new challenges are up on loving hands:T .

im going to do something for Chalky then make a start on something from them. ive decided to add a couple more buntings to my parcel for you shezmit so its at max weight before i post it-but i promise it will be with you soon. Planning a trip to the post office on saturday;)

In a world that has decided that it's going to lose its mind, be more kind my friend, try to Be More Kind
  • I have made another 3 buntings

Shezmit I shall post them tomorrow, all 4 just squeeze into a a4 envelope 2cm thick and weight 80g, so I'm hoping that the post office allows that for a large letter at 52p and the knitting doesn't fluff up! I think it will take me ages to get a big parcel so shall do several little ones as I make them ;) Let me know if any problems with the postage though.

Now to knit some baby hats for preemies uk and adult hats for part of the loving hands new challenge...
Loving knitting for the Wooligans! :j my totals:

    Jellybeans
    22 baby hats ; 3 Teddies for Tragedies ; 15 buntings ; 9 boobs ; 2 baby blankets ;
    8 Innocent Smoothie hats ; 2 Scarves ; 4 Adult hats ; 6 Aaron squares ; 12 hedgehogs

    Hi Kathy
I got so carried away I forgot to ask you to update me with 1 CARDI for Chalkys appeal thanks

Off to take a look at the new challenges on the L/H site, then to finish off the jumper for chalky.
I had to undo the one sleeve as I had done the wrong size I did the body in the 1st size and the sleeve in the 2nd size, it looked like it was for an orangutang

Thought for the day....must concentrate.....I used to get that on my school reports;) and boy was that a long time ago :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
