Good night to you all. I hope everyone is well and happy and feel really special in this group, each item we knit makes such a difference to somebody and its so good to feel something good is happening when all around us
there is bad news of one kind or another. I love coming on here because it is such a positive place

Just reading through to catch up, and came across this....well said..... I heartily agree chalky :T It's such an inspiration too, and just shows how many nice people there are in this uncomunicative (sp)? and in a lot of cases angry world of ours.

I first came in here a little after Kathy started the thread way back in early 2008, and the first thing I worked on was Smokys blanket, and have loved it ever since.
Like most of us I wanted to do something useful, also for relaxation, and this was like the answer to a prayer, I love the chat, the challenges, the whole spectrum of things to make, the pics of "all sorts" now and again, and you know what.... I really miss you all when I'm away.....

Pippa and Mrs Moneypenny - yes, you are both 'old timers' on here! I think the very first post was 15th March 2008, then we had to wait to get the idea approved by the MSE Board. I never ever imagined it would take off in the way it has; the response, and the totals, have been amazing and I will remain forever truly grateful to all you kind souls out there!

Pippa - those words of Chalky's were wonderful and so are yours.

Mrs Moneypenny - I have an American cousin called Mason - it's a name that is dear to my heart. Please give him a cuddle (or a wave if he's too old for a cuddle!).

Chalky and Tight As - the weddings will be here before you know it. I was 'there' last year, doing favours for my DS2's wedding in August, and now they're expecting their first child this August - they didn't waste much time! So watch out - you may both soon be knitting even more things!

Well, I still haven't updated and daren't try to now; the dinner is on and DH is busy helping someone in the road whose car won't start! I'll probably update tomorrow morning, and I'd better set the alarm to make sure I don't oversleep this time!

Will call back later - I only wish I had some knitting to update but, sadly, the day has run away with me. I'll try again tonight.

Maytaurus-- We all love your pictures and they cheer our days so if you have a moment I am going to set you a challenge
Too long to fill you in on all my life but let me say I married a PE teacher 33 years ago and I cant do a forward roll BUT I can knit and always have SO ---
TOMORROW we leave our house in Spain at 5.45 a.m ( and I dont do mornings either!!!) DOH loves snowboarding ( far too old really but I do admire him) We arrive on the slopes him looking really chic all the kit etc etc and me looking like the biggest bag lady on the planet. I have to take everything with me to keep me occupied on the mountain top for 2 whole days. So I approach the
Gondolas (and they move far too quickly for my liking) with my knitted carrier bag ( see photobucket pictures cos it really is fab !! ) and off we go, me to knit, crochet for 2 whole days with everyone looking with much amusement as they do the apres ski malarky -- you know sunglasses or panda eyes and I am armed with a crochet hook ,

So Maytaurus I would love a picture of that scenario -- I got asked to leave the restaurant last time as I had obviously outstayed my welcome knitting but it was sooo warm !!!
Try and do a good deed every day.

Well we had a lovely time in West Sussex with our DGDs, and the party for DGD2 was a real success, I cant believe she is 3 tomorrow.
Its a shame our new little DGS couldnt come, he is not good in a car so DS2 and DIL are taking him out everyday for a short drive to try and get him used to it. But we saw him on Friday before we went, he came to me and sat on my lap for the first time and I was....well you know what I mean.....:D

Thanks Kathy - 15th March, ooo its nearly our 1st anniversary, a whole year, how time flies when you're having fun :D

Maytaurus - thank you so much for the pattern links for the baby cardigan and the elephant, I cant wait to get started now.

mrsmoneypenny - can you believe its nearly a year I wonder how many stitches we have knitted, and how many yards oops I mean metres  of wool we've used. For Mason :smiley:

Chalky - :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Thats some challenge for Maytaurus

Welcome to Tight As, roamin in the gloamin, psso,Prfungi and Ticking over also anyone I may have missed, :o

Off to finish some knitting now, hope you all enjoy the rest of your evening

Did that long post and forgot to add my latest knit

Soo Kathy can you update me with 1 SCARF please, I have started 2 other things but they are still on the needles so will get them finished tonight hopefully ;)

I am surprised at the decision by OECS to only accept finished blankets, as K2tog said the cost of the postage may put a lot of people off sending them,

BTW I think a weekly update is a good idea.

Hi all - I was going to update but I'll do it first thing in the morning. There's lots to add!

Chalky - I had to laugh at your post - the description of you as a non-snowboarding knitting bag lady conjures up such a picture! I think we should all describe ourselves to Maytaurus and see what she comes up with! I've seen the photo of your carrier bag and would love the pattern, if that's possible (says she, wondering how on earth she'll find the time to make it!)

Pippa - you've made me well up now, thinking about your new grandson and how good it must have felt to have him sat on your lap. I bet he's gorgeous. I hope he gets used to travelling. Like you, I wonder how many stitches we have all done between us, and how much wool?!

Maytaurus - I loved the green knitting and thanks for all your links. You're such a star, finding such great things for us!

L C Wilson - you've listed items that you've posted; are they your latest update or things I've already added in previous updates? You've been really busy - that must have been a huge parcel you posted!

Well, I've had my bath (what will I do in France, we only have showers?) and I'm determined to sit down on the sofa AND stay awake!
