Hellsbells45-- I remember a pattern where you had to stitch 1 below. Just stitch into the stitch below as normal and take both stitches off the needle as normal. It just makes a bigger loop which gives it a nice pattern but does not increase. Hope this helps
thanks I think thats what it is. I vaguely remember doing something similar on a fishermans rib jumper. Will let you all know when I've finished the angel pocket.

    Good luck Hellsbells

    Pam

ps: think I may try this stitch on my next 'normal' bunting.

Thanks. thought it might be. looks a bit more interesting. helen

Ok, I'm working on a gown tonight while I relax with the tv, but I'm stuck! Could some kindly person who's done the Preemies UK pattern tell me what I do now??!!

KNIT 6 STITCHES, TURN AND CAST ON 10 STITCHES, TURN AGAIN AND KNIT 13 STITCHES, TURN AND CAST ON 10 STITCHES THEN KNIT REMAINING 6 STITCHES

I'm baffled by the turn and cast on bit - if I turn the whole piece, my yarn is on my left needle, so I can't figure out how to cast on like that! Please help! :o

    Hi Aeshna,
I've done the Preemies gown (soo teeny!) and I think the best way to describe how you turn and cast on is as if you are doing a normal cast on (or at least the way I do it...my wool is always on the left when I cast on). When you;ve knitted your 6 sts, your wool will be on left hand side - cast on as if you are starting a new piece of knitting - then turn the whole piece round and carry on. The cast on bits form the sleeves of the gown (confused me when I had two holes in the middle of my knitting!)

Not too sure if this makes sense when written down - it's easier to see it.

    (hope the link works!!)

Hope this waffle works, and good luck with the gown - it is gorgeous when completed, and best of all there's very little sewing!!

Put your right needle into the stitch on your left one, and yarn around (as though you are doing an ordinary knit stitch). Pull the yarn through and place this loop on to your left needle.

Thank you thank you a million times Purple TeddyBear!! :D I didn't even know that way of casting on existed!! The video was excellent and I'm well on my way. Now I'm really excited, as it makes for such a tidy cast on edge, the thumb way of doing it was the only way I ever knew and often made for some untidy edges!! Yay!!!! :j

Thanks LCWilson, I've got it sussed now :D

    I love you knitting folks!!!!

Hi all - typing here with a bruised left hand after my spectacular fall in the garden yesterday, but it's not as bad as I expected it to be. Just as well with all the packing!

Mrs Moneypenny - your idea for the updates while I'm offline is brilliant, thanks.

    UPDATING WHILE I'M MOVING

I am leaving the UK on Saturday 21st March and will have my new internet connection set up on Thursday 26th March, so I'll be incommunicado for 5 days (how will I stand it?!). I'll do my last update here on Friday 20th and re-start on Friday 27th, hopefully. Mrs Moneypenny has suggested that everyone keeps their own updates going and then adds them to the thread in one go, once I've posted on here to say I'm back. You can still add your new items when you post as normal but, if you would post with your final updates and give your post a title (something like 'Items added since 20th March'), it would make it easier for me to get the running totals right! I hope this makes sense!

Anyway, not much waffle from me today because my hand is aching a bit! I'll update in my next post. Have a great day!

“Oh Miolliere is certainly not telling fibs about the wool shops, they are VERY expensive for rubbish wool, but then if you all bought her a ball of wool and came to visit she could provide the chat and the wine for you...........good scheme or what?”

    Excellent idea,
I’m sure I could fill a small case with B&M wool to make the trip more worthwhile
Then you could have some as well
    79p for 100g
got to be worth the trip
(especially as there is no B&M close to miolieres’ present UK address so can’t even get it here)
I’ll have to wait for the warmer weather tho
Congrats on the new calves oooooh so cute give them a stroke from me
