Tried hard but can't make that pattern work - every variation of "k1b" I find is an increasing stitch. Sorry.

Anne -- That really is lovely and I think he is a very lucky little boy to find s wonderful home where he will be loved so much by all the family. I think you will wake up with such a big smile on your face -- if you sleep with all the excitement.
Maybe he would like a hedgehog to hug !!!

Hellsbells45-- I remember a pattern where you had to stitch 1 below. Just stitch into the stitch below as normal and take both stitches off the needle as normal. It just makes a bigger loop which gives it a nice pattern but does not increase. Hope this helps

Hellbells45 - usually K1B means knitting into the back of the stitch instead of the front so you still only have the one stitch, but, it may be a special abbreviation and mean knitting one below. Can you give us the rest of the row instructions and whether it's a shaping or patterning row or not?

Hi all - hope everyone is having a good evening. I was until I fell over in the garden - on the path, of course - and grazed my right knee and my left elbow, but, worst of all, I landed really hard on my left hand. I already had tendonitis in it but the pain is even worse now! We just about managed to cook the dinner between us and that's all cleared up now; I can type as long as I keep my left hand almost static and, if I can't do my crochet tonight (knitting's out of the question because it needs two really mobile hands), I shall have the screaming ab-dabs! I've been looking forward to it all day. Still, I've taken one of the painkillers that I have for my tendonitis, so I'm hoping it will ease off.

Anyway, enough of me feeling sorry for myself; there are plenty much worse off than me and I know it will get better. I have some Aero in the cupboard so that will be my treat for tonight!

I loved the knitted Christmas tree, S-Michaels! It's a work of art, isn't it? I would love to have a go at making a small one, but if we could all get together (Chez Mioliere's Knitting Retreats), wouldn't it be a fantastic joint project? I've copied and pasted the photo to send to my Mum - I was tempted to tell her it's our next knitting challenge and we all have to do one each, but I didn't have the heart!

Anyway, I'm off for a bath. Pippa - I bet you haven't stopped smiling, have you?! See you all later.

Ok, I'm working on a gown tonight while I relax with the tv, but I'm stuck! Could some kindly person who's done the Preemies UK pattern tell me what I do now??!!

KNIT 6 STITCHES, TURN AND CAST ON 10 STITCHES, TURN AGAIN AND KNIT 13 STITCHES, TURN AND CAST ON 10 STITCHES THEN KNIT REMAINING 6 STITCHES

I'm baffled by the turn and cast on bit - if I turn the whole piece, my yarn is on my left needle, so I can't figure out how to cast on like that! Please help! :o
