  • Hi all, hope you've had a good day and Welcome Eve / Onlygirl - ooohh dear, rediscovering knitting, very dangerous - judging by the rest of us, your home will soon be overrun with woolly things and your friends and family will only get half your attention and a vacant gaze as you mutter stitch counts. Still, you won't be lonely, there's plenty of us similarly afflicted and this forum's very friendly and almost as addictive as the knitting....you have been warned!
Please could someone help me (and Kathy!) by pointing me in the direction of 'how to do a signature' instructions? - I've had a go in User CP but I'm getting the message 'BB code size value is too big' - er, wot? I'm not trying to do anything extreme, at least not intentionally, but I haven't much of a clue so would be very grateful if one of you more techie-minded people could advise - thanks!
Hope your computer's feeling happy after its wash and brush-up, Kathy, and I'll keep trying with the signature - meanwhile, please could you add another 3 baby hats for me when you next update ( Shezmit, I'll send them as soon as I can get to the post office.)
    Happy knitting/crocheting
    Ginny

PS been thinking of you, PurpleTeddyBear, and your dd's mushed carrot, as I cleared my dd's supper off the floor/chair/entire baby - isn't feeding a baby the best argument for getting a dog?

Hi red head mum - if you go to quick links at the top of the page and click on it - under the second green heading it says "edit your signature" if you click on it, about halfway down the page you will get a grey box similar to the one you 'post quick reply' in here and thats where you add your bits - hope that helps
  • Thanks Sheyo, I've had a fiddle around with text size so here goes....
Ha! it works, but I still don't know why it has to be so tiny - even one size larger text is apparently too big. Oh well, as long as Kathy can spot it.

PHEEEEW its taken hours to read through....such a lot happening.....
Welcome :hello: to all the newbies nice to see you all, we are a friendly bunch and just love to knit and natter ;) :rotfl:

Kathy - Good luck with your move to France, thank goodness for the internet is what I say :T so we can all keep in touch. Hope your 'puter is better soon :D
I am now using my new laptop and it seems ok some of the things I used to do are a bit different, but I will soon get used to it. It's lovely and shiny, and I am caring for it like a baby, its taken me ages to save up for and I got a REAL BARGAIN in the sales, it's a Compaq Presario and was only £349, its got a web cam,(havent used that yet) took some finding though.
DS1,DIL and DGD's came and stayed here while we were away and he loaded it and transferred all my info and files. OH is real jealous he wants one now, I told him to start saving his pennies, 'cause hes not using mine;)

Shelley - bungee jumpinnnn are you mad woman .... only joking, I think you're very brave, just the thought of it makes my knees go wobbly :o
Please put me on your sponsor form and I will send a CHQ for a fiver in my next parcel. The Aaron square, I know they are 4"x4", and I have read it but the little grey cells are'nt working too well tonight and I cant remember what size needles and how many stitches, but think it was 20 ridges garter stitch each side, is that right??? O and I have a 100g ball of white DK so I will start knitting buntings until I have used it all up.

f1widow - I know what you mean, I thought it was about 25 pages, well how wrong can one be ..... its more like 35.

Bit tired now, think its time for bed ;)

    night everyone

Hi redhead mum - I had a similar problem but eventually got it sussed. The problem is explained here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1517399 and you'll find post #6 interesting lol, there's a LOT involved in writing the code for signatures!

Anyhow, I've not got much done today as I've been sewing up a couple of baby cardi's I did for my cousin and best friend. I managed another 2 bibs though Kathy, if you could update me when you're back with us.

Welcome to all the new peeps and welcome back to Pippa - I've only been here a short time, but I'm addicted! :D

Thanks for that - any ideas whether its alright for them just to be plain (ie one colour no pom poms etc) oh and you dont happen to know the closing date do you? Im such a pain asking so many questions !!! Sorrrrry

I vaguely recall reading something in the one of the zillion posts in this thread about them taking the hats plain - I hope so, I've never attempted a pom pom!!! Also, I think the cut off is November, but I'm sure someone will be along who knows for sure!

EDIT Just checked the bigknit website, the hats are absolutely fine without pom poms and the deadline is 17th October!

Aeshna - many thanks for that - you may find that occasionally i have what I call my "la la" moments - they happen frequently - funnily enough even more frequently in the last 6 months(ish) since I have started knitting ......

OOOOhhhhhh I must say I've found ............ "Kemps" - what a wonderful site - I saw you ladies mention it and thought I'll have a look - now hubby has threatened cutting plug off computer ha ha

Anyway better go hugs and good wishes- good night - f1widow xx

I have so far resisted the temptation to take a look at Kemps, lol, I have lots of freecycled wool, although not as much baby wool as I'd like. I'm determined to get through it before I do anything else - can't really afford to be buying wool every 5 minutes, but I do wonder how long I can hold out!!!!

    Night night sleep tight all

    Hi all - me again
I think may have completed the gown & hat - BUT - I'm puzzled (just for a change :rotfl::o ) should there be some fastenings on the gown - if so what? Should the skirt be stitched ?

Sorry about all the questions - its a symptom of my depression - uncertainty & inability to make a decision. Hey hum working on it!

    regards
    Pam
