Well, if you are traveling with AA at anytime, visit the AAdvantage forum on flyertalk and you will see how to do a "platinum challenge" you sign up for it and have to complete 10,000 miles in 1 year, thats just 1 return to Vegas. It might seem easy to us but remember 99% of AA's customer base is domestic travelers. After you have completed the challenge they make you a Platinum elite member, for that you get free Admirals Club access, when you book your flights the seat configuration opens up for you to pick the best seats for free, you get a number of free 500 mile upgrade vouchers, priority boarding, first call on any upgrades, all of this is free and all it takes is 1 return flight.
    .
    Nope
Challenges are no longer free and it was always 3 months to complete the challenge not a year. You earn the upgrade vouchers per 10,000 miles you fly. It can still be a great deal though even with the charge.

Apologies, haven't looked for a while, it was free when I did it. I remember now, you sign up for it within 3 months of you traveling. sorry if I lead people up the wrong path. just goes to show, follow my link and find out from the experts.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

    Hi folks,

Last year we took in Mamma Mia, Bon Jovi, Defending the Caveman, Rosanne Barr & Ka so are on the lookout for some others.

I was just wanting to ask your opinion on the following 2 shows:

    Fab Four live

    Love

From memory I think folk think they're both good.

Also, the seat plan for Love looks as if there isn't a bad seat in the place - am I right to think this? How much would I expect to pay & where's best to buy?

    Cheers

Thanks both stoneman and duchy for the info...will look into it for sure...stoneman, I know you've mentioned it before but I obviously didn't pay enough attention because we're about to make our 3rd trip in 2 years which is LON->CHI (visit family), then CHI->LAS, LAS->LON...transatlantic on Virgin, internal on AA. We like AA and they actually have more departures to CHI each day - would suit us to leave earlier than the Virgin flight does. Had I previously paid attention and depending on the fare class we would book, I'm pretty sure that we could have managed the platinum challenge twice with the third in April by not flying back direct...rather annoyed at myself!

Only thing I can't seem to see is on the AA booking pages where it gives the fare class...and I understand that depending on what fare class you're travelling, you may earn more or less than 1 point per mile...just trying to get a feel for it and just cannot see the fare class shown on the booking screens.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

We've seen both and would recommend both.

We've seen Fab Four 3 times - twice at the V Theatre, where they have returned to, and once at the Sahara last year. We opted for VIP admission at the V Theatre so we were nearer the stage. Although it is a tiny theatre, it is all on the same level and not tiered and it is just ordinary chairs and not the usual theatre style. We either got the tickets at the Tix4Tonight or more likely it was a coupon in the Vegas Values coupon book found in most taxis or with the 24/7 Magazine which gave us half off. I have thoroughly enjoyed it each time.

We saw Love a couple of months after it opened. We had the cheapest seats and they were fine. In fact I think they are better than the expensive seats as a lot of the action is above you.

There is an offer on Love tickets on TravelZoo here:-

    Hi everyone

First of all can i say a big thank you to everyone who has posted!

I get married on August 15th 2009 and at my fiances request we are intending on visiting Vegas for our 2 week honeymoon.

I wasn't too fussed to start off with and would have rather sunned myself on some sunny beach for 2 weeks but after reading this thread and others linked from it, i can't wait.

I have kept my fiance at arms length from this forum so that some of the gems remain hidden until we get there.

As i said before i have read quite a few of the forums and this is just a heads up just in case someone has some info that i have missed.

From what i understand i am best to book my flights as cheap and early as possible, and wait for the deals from the hotels.

I live in Birmingham and I have found a flight that leaves from Gatwick on the 17th August for £500 and will book our places at the end of the week if i can't find any better.

The hotels we were looking at staying are The Palazzo or The Venetian so if anyone spots any deals please contact me.

Is it reasonable to expect that i could get the hotel for 2 weeks at around £1000?

I am warming to the idea of staying in multiple hotels during the honeymoon what do you think, what are peoples experiences is it a pain or worthwhile?

    Thank you

    Tully

welcome to the thread and congrats on your upcoming wedding.

Who is that flight with ?? Virgin should be your first port of call for pricing up flights.

I hate that flight, but it is direct , has good baggage allowance and they have some good prices at the moment. the prices will only increase the longer you leave it.

with current exchange rate .£1000 for 14 nights might be pushing it at The Venetian espically if you have 2 friday and saturday nights .

If you want the nice hotels and want to save money look to move on weekends so you stay at the posh places on week nights . it might be a good idea to take a trip to the Grand Canyon or surrounding areas on weekends, or stay in some of the really nice Off strip Hotels .

there are plenty of intresting places you can hit with just a few hours drive.

Moving hotels on the strip is not that much hassle . okay you have to check out about 11 -12 at most places , but if you have a car you can simply leave your cases in the care of the Valet/ bellhops till late afternoon when you check into the next hotel.

don't get blinkered to just The Venetian and Palazzo as if you read a few pages back , you will read some negative reports on recent stays. be flexable and pick the good deals is my advice . you can always ask on here about the hotel you are considering
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

I picked up from Stoneman's review that you need a rental car or a $20 taxi (each way I assume?) to get to the Mystery Adventure. Silly me had assumed they picked you up from the hotel.

That's a pity as I had persuaded hubby to give it a go.

    I don't suppose it's on a bus route?
