    but the venitian is expensive
I personally feel its better to stay in a cheaper hotel but nicer room, its upto u though

Thanks for the advice. What would be an average sort of price for 5 nights with direct flights in early october! Its our honeymoon so we want something special but dont want to pay over the odds so if you think that is alot that is good to know. :-)

If that total includes your Virgin flights, then thats a great price for 5 nights Venetian...flights are around £470 each

Yes flights were £471 each when I looked at it seperately and if we booked venetian ourselves it was more than the £1261 quoted on Expedia. Just wondering what an average sort of price for hotel like that would be?

I think you wouldn't go wrong with the Venetian. It's a really nice hotel and I liked the room when I stayed there.

I would rather stay in a basic room in a nice hotel than a better room in a cheaper hotel.

Well we have got everything booked now :D

Flying with Vigin out of gatwick. Staying at the MGM for the first week on the buffet deal. Brother in law is getting married at red rock canyon then we are driving up to south Lake Tahoe where we have booked a lodge for our 2nd week. Then back to Vegas and a week at the Golden Nugget. We wanted to see if there was a different feel to Vegas if you stay downtown. ( and their pool looks fantastic! )

Thanks to everyone who contributes to this thread. It is a fantastic resource and I have found loads of usefull info on here. :T

A good price for the Venetian would be around $139 a night week days if you could find an offer. I have seen it lower, but not very often.

Just carrying on the IP discussion..

I went to Vegas the day after my 21st birthday in August. Stayed in the IP for all 16 nights. When checking in, my mate showed the hotel receptionist my passport and we got a free upgrade for the whole time!

Now the basic rates of $39 per night is incredible. I know a suite at the venetian is $109, but I can't praise the IP enough.

    1) Very cheap so lots more money for entertainment/gamblimg - An extra $60 a day can get you very far!
    2) Bang in the middle of the strip. Not too far to go anywhere, with flamingo, mirage, ceasers and harrahs all next door!
    3) A great choice of food in the hotel/casino itself at very good prices (The chinese there is incredible!)
    4) The rooms have been refurbished so contrary to tripadvisor reviews, they are nice!

I stayed on a strip view room at request, but never got to the room earlier than 4am so wasn't bothered by the strip noise! If you're early nighters that's something to be aware of!

So for 16 nights I saved an average of $900 by staying at the IP compared to the venetian, and it was absolutely lovely and more than enough! That $900 would buy you a grand canyon helicopter tour with Maverick, premium tickets to a circque de sol(sp?) show, AND meals at the nicests restaraunts!

no probs Bex :) The big thing I say is it depends why you're going. If I was taking my other half, I'd go for the Wynn/Venetial and go for short term romance.. but for a proper vegas experience inc gambling and such, I'd definitely recommend the IP!

For 16 days, Venetian would be harder to justify at $109. But I would probably do something like MGM at $60 than IP......personal pref I know.....each to his own.
