Any more hidden restaurant gems off strip to try,
    Any other hidden gems?

We have always liked Dan Marino's which is now attached to the side of Hooters casino on Tropicana, best choices are Steak tips / Meatloaf / Lobster Ravioli, and their French onion soup is superb, prices are around the same as cheescake factory

Any more hidden restaurant gems off strip to try,

Guys been looking at these posts for a while and contributed to a couple, very informative.

By means of hidden gems I mean restaurants which are off the beaten track. something you have to go out of the way to, but you make the extra effort to get too.

I think Origin India is fantastic - probably the best Indian food I've ever had (it helps it was set up by a Brit, I think!). It's in a shopping centre across from Hard Rock and is on restaurant.com (though they do add a 20% gratuity automatically if you use the voucher - which I know some do not like).

Edited to add - if you sign up on their website they do send out vouchers occasionally - we just got one for our anniversary BOGOF main...unfortunately our anniversary is in June and we're not back until September. But they have sent out others periodically through the year.

If you like Thai food, Lotus of Siam is also in a kind of grotty looking shopping centre this time on Sahara and is absolutely fantastic. I haven't been in a few years now (only because while I love Thai, it's not my hubby's favorite) but it regularly gets good reviews which rate it at or near the top of Thai restaurants in the US...beware though, before we went we read to be conservative on how hot you ask for things - like if you'd order something at a 5 out of 10 here, order a 2 there. :) They do have a lunch buffet, but all the reviews I have read says order off the menu instead for the best experience. The Nam Kao Tod starter I had was one of the best things I have ever eaten.

And for steak, we love Austin's at Texas Station. We've been there twice, and to their sister restaurant Sonoma Cellar at Sunset Station once...menus are identical, but we prefer Austin's...again they are on restaurant.com.

And also for steak, we really liked Envy at the Renaissance Hotel - right across from the convention centre monorail stop. Also found this via restaurant.com.

Both steakhouses were (we thought) good value for money, excellent food, great service and a relatively relaxed atmosphere. Some people dress up, others don't...so whichever you prefer you won't feel out of place.

oh, and we haven't tried it yet - but it's my 'must do' next time...the lunchtime dim sum at Ping Pang Pong at Gold Coast.

Once again, you have surprised me, never heard of half those restaurants, up to a point I am boring, I use the restaurants in the larger hotels but getting off the beaten track there is far more to experience.

Been to quite a few good chinese restaurants / vietnamese,

Dan Marino's sounds interesting will definately give this a go,

Really cant understand why folk would waste their time & money going to see shows and musicals in Vegas!? its supposed to be a city of excess and debauchery - you can go and watch a show in London.

Similarly, I cannot understand why people go to Vegas and spend the entire trip !!!!ed and/or hanging out by the pool...you could do that in Spain. :)

To each their own I say...what's a waste to you may not be to someone else, and vice versa...until I'm paying for someone else's holiday, I couldn't care less what they choose to do with it.

Not sure you've got the full idea of Vegas, yes if you want it i'm sure you can be all excess and debauchery but there is so much more to Las Vegas than that.

I've been twice now and I certainly don't go for the debauchery, I do things in Vegas I don't do back in the UK. I drink more, eat more and gamble (which I never do at home). Its a holiday destination, a place I like to go to be me, I enjoy the shows, the comedians, magicians etc and I enjoy the food, a lot.

Different people go for different things and if they want to see a show when they are in Vegas then thats their perogative.

I have a feeling you might be in the minority on this one on this forum.

Just try and be able to remember some of Vegas after all your debauchery!!
