haven't had chance to post lately due to being... umm... well, busy!

that was a superb trip report TangoBunny, had me laughing out loud like some weird madman - wish i could write like you instead of the verbal diohrea i seem to suffer!

-- i saw there was also talk of Mandalay Bay buffet!!! absolute winner for us, lovely food, good array of food stations and types - and in our opinion it wee'd all over Spice Market Buffet :)

My original comment was supposed to be a happy, flippant, off the cuff please dont do it type of thing
at the risk of going against the grain of my fellow regular posters, then if it's any consolation, i read it as that - but then i have a slight warped / de-ranged mind (which unfortunately means so do you :rotfl:) - to be honest, i'd read little difference between your comment and a subsequent one about wiping your feet on the way out (which didn't get picked up on - but then it wasn't an issue for me either  ) -- can someone call me a ****** or something just to test if i'm actually human (form a queue!)

anyways, i've had my say on the matter so it's time for us all to drop the issue now and move on ;):p:rotfl:

edit: woops, sorry - just seen your post Tretts :):D

edit2: you've all probably noticed i dish the 'thanks' out quite a lot anyways (either to agree with someone, thanks someone or acknowledge you made me laugh or whatever) --- but i'd love to dish out some more --- can we have some piccies posted please?? seems a while since we've had any!

    PICCIES!
    upload here: http://imageshack.us
choose the 'resize to 800 x 600' (or smaller) option, then post the image link to the piccie on here

it's been a month now so i'm starting to feel withdrawal symptoms!

here is a link to the one's i posted when i got back:

    Hi everyone.
Can I just say thanks to you all for your helpful comments so far.
I've never been to Vegas before but am going on 23rd July for 2 weeks to stay with my cousin who recently moved there. Due to already having (free!) accomodation there could anyone suggest a family-friendly hotel on the Strip for one night and also maybe somewhere nice to eat? My son will turn 17 on the 27th July and I thought it might be nice to spend the one night in a hotel. Don't want to spend a fortune but don't want to scrimp either as we are going for the experience but we would like pleasant rooms with nice views. Between us we will have 3 other kids aged 6 to 10 too. I believe my cousin and her family have previously spent a night at the Excalibur as a birthday treat for one of their boys but wondered if there was anything else. Obviously as they live there they don't have much need for hotels so haven't tried any others. Any suggestions gratefully received.
    Karen.

Airport check in is only in T1...so if you're arriving on an international flight you'd have to get to T1 from T2 to even try to use it...it's also only open 10a-6p.

for children i think your right in that going for one of the themed places such as excalubur would be a very good idea. although hotel not great you don't necessarly want somewhere to nice. also the king arthur themed dinner may go down a storm
however the 17 year old may fancy something more like hard rock? slightly more glam and a bit rock star ish. buy him a voucher for the "european bathing" , pool!!! that would keep any 17 year old bloke happpy!!!

I think the 'european' pools have an age restriction of 21, but totally agree that they would keep a 17 year old boy quite happy. :)

I also agree that for kids, Excalibur is a good choice for all the kid-friendly options there and nearby...the widescreen tower rooms are meant to be pretty nice too and not dramatically more cost-wise than standard rooms.

Although, if this is an adult, a 17 year old and 3 additional kids in one room - I'm not sure if there would be an issue? I thought many standard rooms had a maximum occupancy of 4?
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

How about MGM or Mandalay Bay. Neither are themed as such but both have great pool areas with lazy rivers, and lots of dining and entertainment options to keep the kids and teen happy.

Make sure to have a look on https://www.smartervegas.com for promo codes as well to keep the cost down.
