    thanks again:D

Taxi to the strip $15-25 depending which end of the strip.

PH by far although I haven't seen any decent offers for it in ages. CC isn't great and the Strat is too far north.

Looked at Monte Carlo, more affordable than some of the others although I am tempted, Any suggestions for where would be a good second week to go with it?

What is your budget per night in $'s?

Monte Carlo is $40 a night on smartervegas and I would rather not pay much more than that as we obviously need to pay for everything else over the two weeks as well, however we would be willing to pay a bit more for somewhere a bit better. Just don't want to break the bank

If cost is a big factor then take a look at Excalibur, most weekdays are $29 on your dates and weekends are $57:
    https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=EXC&host=offer&code=TZFAMBL&kbid=1162904&sub=885986

NYNY also has some great rates ($52 weekday). Not as cheap as Excal but its a better hotel hence the higher rate. These rates are just taken from searches i've done on smarter vegas. Have a look at the hotels on there and see which ones have rates you are happy to pay.

Remember these rates are fully refundable if you cancel within 48 hours of arrival, and you only need to pay one nights deposit plus tax now. So you can book now and cancel if a better promo code comes out later on.

ETA: some brilliant rates at mirage(great hotel) for the second week of your stay ($58 weekday/$84 weekends). Perhaps you could do the first week supercheap at the excalibur and the second week at mirage. This would work out a total of around £570 overall, dearer than your strat quote but well worth the extra IMO.

Another vote for PH. We love it there.

Here is a link to average expected taxi fees from McCarran.

It might be useful to add that to the first post, just thinking.....

Hi Froggitt - I stopped in Paris' sports book on our way out tonight to ask...they aren't offering anything for AI and the guy I spoke to said no Vegas sportsbooks are...whether that's true or not I don't know...will ask at an MGM book if we're near one and let you know if they say differently.

And checked at Mirage today and they said no too I'm afraid.

Glad you liked the Silverton. It is one of our favourites and you can't lose with two meals for $10!!! They serve Starbucks coffee in the buffet too, did you have some?

OMG. I'm a total Starbuck's !!!!! and I didn't notice this! Must be the heat getting to me.

Yes, sad that we're nearly at the end of our holiday but now happy that it's almost time to see the cats again. :)

We've bought digital cameras and portable media players before...there's a potential that there would be an issue with the warranty I think but some may be worldwide - worth checking anyway. Of course you should declare items over a particular value. With the exchange rate being less than ideal may be worth comparing prices of similar models to see if it's worth buying in the US.
