    Funkyfin,

See you're going to Six Flags, don't know if you've booked your tickets already but sometimes you can get deals in LA with cans of Sprite (maybe coke as well?) Last year though we booked them on line as we got a good price before we went. Watch out for X, that is a b***h of a ride.

    Guys,

Does USA map of TOMTOM take USA Zip codes to locate things???? Like we would postcodes!

    Rich
No it doesnt, jsut enter the address and it will find it.
I think I may have mis-read what you're tryinig to say Daz, but just to be clear, you definitely can enter zipcodes... like ferf says, it doesn't narrow things down much but you can enter a zip code, and from there you can choose a street that 'belongs' to that zip code (I just tried it)

Rich - I notice you're going to stay at Hilton Universal - just to warn you that the reports on tripadvisor are true, and that the lifts are sheer hell there!!! other than that, great hotel and location (well it was for us anyways!) - if you're on the executive floors then the free food and drink makes up for the fact you can spend up to 15minutes waiting for the lift to come!

Yeah you are right, what i was meaning to say is that there isnt a US file that resides in the tomtom's ZIP directory like there is for UK postcodes. I found that out the hard way after spending a couple of hours looking online for such a file before finding out from some of these satnav geeks that all the street/address/zip data is held within the actual US map.

What are really good are the text to speech voices, if anyone wants them let me know and I can point you in the right direction

Yeah universal hilton will be amazing....executive floor...

guys I have a hiltonhonours blue account and one of my bookings is on there, do you get the points when you have had the stay??

Also one of the other trips, the \Universal hilton was booked thru hotels.com so doesn't show on the account, can i get them to add that to the honours account when i get to the hotel?

I also havn't had a card sent to me from hilton either :(

yeah, you will get the points after you have stayed there :)

also, i've had my hhonors account added to my 'stay' on arrival before so shouldn't be a problem for you :)

definitely worth joining that club as it's free and you get your own hhonors 'check-in queue' which can be useful if they're really busy! :)

did you get a better deal thru hotels.com then? :) never even crossed my mind to look elsewhere when I booked our hilton stay... doh!
  • The Bellagio Fountains
yup got a better deal dude, also they had like £20 off on some link from the Tube that i had off here!

Booked furnace creek ranch through otels.com as well £25 cheaper than booking direct! Another tip thru here!!!

Hotel points when booked through 3rd party suppliers can be a bit iffy. Hilton have a price match scheme anyway IIRC so if you find it cheaper elsewhere they'll match it on their own booking system if you ring them. (Obviously not on priceline/hotwire deals as the hotel isn't named before booking)
Generally the T&C of the frequent stay programme say you can't have them -but often you get them anyway. I got them from Hilton when I booked with Priceline on a name your own price in New York but didn't on another US Hilton stay. Definitely worth adding the card at check in if not done before. if they say you don't qualify -nod and say you'll be charging incidentals which will (even if you won't be) and often it goes through for points on the stay anyway.
To add the card beforehand just ring and add a room request and the card number if the card hasn't arrived yet.

Have any of you guys visited one of the Las Vegas Shooting ranges?

Were on a stag doo there in June and i thought it might be a decent activity one day, just for a couple of hours - shoot a few machine guns etc.

Could anyone advise the best ones, best deals etc etc???

    Many thanks

    Rich

text to speech are computerised voices that will read street names, road numbers alerts etc etc.

for example the traditional tomtom voice would say something like... in 300 yards take the next left.

TTS voice would be .... in 300 yards turn left into Green Street
