Spring break runs for several weeks ....so where were they all hiding when you were there ?
Spring break traditionally is not big convention time and the high rollers steer clear so you're not going to find high rollers at Spring break any year though. As for students wealthy enough to gamble high stakes-they do exist-but you'll find them at the hipper casinos rather than the more staid ones like the Bellagio (nothing against the Bellagio -it just attracts a different demographic -my idea of hell would be the Hard Rock full of drunk rich kids -Vegas or Chelsea is pretty much the same for the trust fund babes- plenty of money to blow and recession proof)

Where I "come from" is irrelevent btw but I do have a tourism background so such trends are pretty much "work" to me -they aren't difficult to follow -most are common sense.
Guess if you have such disdain for "cheapskates" playing slots you'll not really find too many likeminded people here on *moneysaving* expert !!
Now do give it a rest Sonny

    Interesting theory.

We're here now and it's been quite busy - haven't seen any particular reduction in crowds from previous years, various times during previous years, etc. Based on all the reports we were expecting a ghost town and it's certainly not that at all.

I see from your previous posts that you consider yourself as somewhat of a Vegas expert.
You'll know then that the most accurate barometer of how well the place is doing are room rates at hotels.
For example the Luxor has just slashed its Spring rates to an unprecedented €49 a night. This time last year they averaged €150 a night.
And you can find many other similar offers very easily.
Vegas makes its money from gambling more than anything else and the reason those hotel rates are on offer is because gamblers are simply not coming to Vegas.
And you say you have a background in tourism ?
Let me guess - you're in charge of the donkeys on Blackpool Beach.

Silly little boy-sorry but I'm not playing....as for donkeys-I see only one !
Pity really the trends are actually quite interesting (your Luxor figures though are way off on last year's exchange rate that'd be nearly $300 a night midweek and weekend) but you can't handle discussion without getting silly and snarky.
    Begone troll !

Calling any of you lucky people over in Vegas right now......please could you have a look in any Casino Sportsbook and let me know the odds of the American Idol contestants over there. Thanks

Hi Froggitt - I stopped in Paris' sports book on our way out tonight to ask...they aren't offering anything for AI and the guy I spoke to said no Vegas sportsbooks are...whether that's true or not I don't know...will ask at an MGM book if we're near one and let you know if they say differently.

The weather is lovely...a bit toasty when we were tromping around a bit at Valley of Fire early afternoon but very nice. No more big wins, but at least today so far we're holding our own so cannot complain!

For anyone who's still yet to travel, may be worth double checking the per-transaction withdrawal amount with FairFX. I know their T&Cs said something about a £2 or £3k daily spend limit and I assumed that applied to withdrawals as well, though I did wonder if that would be a 'spend' or something else...our first day I decided to take the FairFX money on our card to get that over with in case I had problems...requested $700 (max on the machine was $3000)...got my cash, thought hey, great...then counted it...only $500...never got a message saying anything other than to take my cash...so tried another withdrawal (as was the only way to figure out if it was a machine error I needed to deal with) and got the other $200...so if there's a $500 per transaction limit (which I am not saying there is, I honestly don't know what happened and maybe something went screwy with the machine I was using) then some may need to factor it in as a $2 fee for FairFX + the ATM fee for every $500 may be more than people were expecting and at least for us negates some of the positives of having the card.

However you're still grossly exagerating with your "acres"
Easter btw is NOT a public holiday in the US.
Can't help you with your Fatburgers however-we usually eat a bit more up-scale than than but I hear In and Out might be good ;)

I've tried Fatburger and they're really good! :D
