The Bellagio Fountainsnewty
You can get to the Premium Outlets on the Deuce (double decker bus). Take it to the Downtown Transportation Center and take the 106, 108 or Shopper's Special from there to the outlets.
You can get a 24 hour pass for the Deuce for $7 and I suggest trying to get the front seat upstairs and going south for a tour of the strip.0 -
The Bellagio FountainsI find drinks really expensive in Vegas. A glass of wine is around $9-13, but I have seen one at $20. A mixed drink is around $13 and a beer $4-6.
I had one of the cocktail drinks in those containers that are about 2 feet tall, from the Forum shops, up near the Cheesecake Factory.
It was a Long Island Iced Tea, cost $40..and the guy said "you do realise there is 16 shots of alcohol in there"...it lasted me most of the day, lol.0 -
Was in Las Vegas last week and was surprised to find that despite huge acres of empty casinos and gambling tables all the bars and restaurants were still charging the normal outrageous prices. No wonder the place is suffering.
So here's the tip.Regulars will know about this place from previous posts but it's still worth flagging it up for first timers.
The Ellis Island Brewery and Casino is just off the strip by Ballys. It's not the most glamorous joint but it does exactly what it says on the tin.
It brews ale, lager, wheat beer and stout and they all cost €1.50 a pint all day every day. It's good stuff too and wins lots of brewing awards.
They also have the famous €6.99 steak deal where for that price you get a soup/salad starter, a steak dinner AND a pint. 24/7.
And it's good grub too but just nothing fancy - imagine your local Harvester.
If you don't want steak all the other dishes are around that price.
It also has a $5 match play on their dining room tablepapers, so your food could be free.
They also have an outdoor BBQ area.
Expect around a 30 minute wait ( in the bar ! ) at busy times and it is busy for most of the day because it is so cheap.
It is without doubt the very best deal by the Strip but keep it too yourself.0 -
Hi all,
Just catching up on the thread, we are staying at the Imperial Palace, was hoping to try Ellis Island for one of our meals after reading good reviews on here. Looks pretty close on the map but just reading above that the distances are deceptive, would it be easy enough to walk to from the IP?
Any suggestions of good spots around that area would be welcome too- the other thread is a great idea, can't wait to try the Cheesecake Factory!
Thanks0 -
The Bellagio FountainsEllis Island is an approx 15 min walk from the IP. We had the steak there when it was only $4.99. We have plans to visit it on our first morning for breakfast as we are likely to be up very early and may go back for their chicken and ribs combo if we can fit it in.0

Not sure which Vegas you were in -struck me as pretty much normal crowds Friday through Tuesday for the time of year. Not mega but "acres of empty casinos" ? I don't think so LOLI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -

Would that be Easter Weekend the first main holiday break of the year Friday - Tuesday you are talking about ?
Facts, baby, facts.
People walking about eating Fatburgers are not the same as the high-limit poker rooms and sports books which were all but deserted last weekend.
And when you see plenty of €10 minimum gambling tables you know Vegas is taking a whupping.
Here's what the local media are reporting.
By BENJAMIN SPILLMAN
LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL
The number of people who visited Las Vegas fell 4.4 percent to 37.5 million in 2008.
And now for the bad news.
The decline accelerated toward the end of the year, paced by a 14.2 percent dip in December to 2.7 million.
Ten of 12 months in 2008 showed declines.
People who track the numbers say falling home prices and rising fuel costs contributed to the declines early in the year.
More recently, massive layoffs and other frightening economic news cut further into the number of people willing to pay up for a trip to Las Vegas.
"It has been decades since we've seen all these things happening at once," research director Kevin Bagger told the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority board of directors on Tuesday when he presented the numbers. "They all reflect the impact of the economy. We saw challenges in every sector."0 -
Of course there is decline-America has a recession too you know ......Baby !!
However you're still grossly exagerating with your "acres"
Easter btw is NOT a public holiday in the US.
Can't help you with your Fatburgers however-we usually eat a bit more up-scale than than but I hear In and Out might be goodI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

However Spring Break IS a holiday, the first of the year for the nation's college students, which is why Vegas was overrun by them last weekend.
Now I don't know where you come from but I know of few students who can afford to gamble in Vegas.
A cursory stroll through any casino will have shown you few high-rollers in town and large areas cordoned off and not in use.
Even the slots were quiet and only cheapskates play slots !0
