for anyone going between now and 14th April - there's a rumour (which may or may not be true) that MGM is closing the lion habitat on that day.

Someone on Open Vegas claims to have had this info by email from on of the lion handlers (he's posted the email chain as well)...I called MGM to ask and got a fairly strange answer...one of the local TV stations has looked into it - the guy who owns the lions say he can't talk per his contract with MGM, MGM PR are saying it's staying open.

So...take it for what it's worth - but wanted to mention it in case it's true, and in case anyone wants to make a trip to see the lions one last time in the event it does close.

We arrive on the 15th and will be SO sad if we missed the lions by one day - we've seen them loads of times but they always make me happy.

Maybe it's not true and they will still be there...I didn't want to post about it until there was some sort of confirmation that it was true - but then I thought I would feel bad with all the people going in the next 2 weeks, if I didn't mention the rumour, and they missed out on seeing the lions assuming they would be there next time. I sure hope it isn't true.

We're packed (finally!) and off down to Gatwick this afternoon - twilight check in and Travelodge overnight, flying tomorrow morning :j.

It'll be our first time in Las Vegas, we've got 4 nights there before we pick up a car and head out to the Grand Canyon, then to LA and San Diego.

Have picked up loads of great info from this thread - I'm sure some of it will come in handy - thanks to you all  .

Have a great time Jackie, one tip for you and maybe others, I forgot to mention last weekend, take some "starbursts" (for the older ones amongst us Opal Fruits!!). The casinos air conditioning can make your mouth dry as a bone, really suffered last week from the disease I call "Vegas Mouth":rotfl:

OK who's up for a meet on 6 May? I know there was a bit of interest and as it's now 3 week today until we leave I thought we might get it sorted.

Need suggestions of where to meet and how we will recognise each other.

I think Pebbles, funkyfin and Tangobunny were interested and one other whose name escapes me.

Should we be doing this by PM? Let me know if we should.
