Is there any websites etc that tell you how much each ATM's max is? I'd imagine not?

Not that I've ever seen, though I haven't looked. You'll probably have the highest limits at the casino ATMs near the cages - that would be my guess anyway...they do have higher fees than some of the others (I think the one at Bally's is $4.99) but for a large withdrawal I'd personally like the security that's offered by withdrawing at a casino where I know it's unlikely anyone's going to try anything. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I have withdrawn $600 before from ATM's in Mandalay Bay, but that was when the $ rate was over 2 to £, depends on the sterling uk daily limit set by your bank

You can make up to 3 ATM withdrawals per day and 10 over a 4 day period. If you exceed these limits the card gets locked for ATM usage. Therefore, we recommend paying where possible using your FairFX Currency Card rather than cash and to try to estimate your cash needs each day and make one ATM withdrawal. This will also lessen the effect of the ATM withdrawal fees

Feel free to suspect. You are wrong, though.

sorry if i'm mistaken , but i really don't think you can walk into the MGM Grand and get a room for $13 a night . i know the prices they post on the room rates board behind check in and they always seem to be 3 figures .

of course lying on your I-94 / ESTA is not a good idea either .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:
  • I think I did mention that I didn't really know anything about the whole thing and I've heard so many different things from different people that I don't know what's acurate and what's not. Trolling is really not something I would do though.

I will have a chat to the person tomorrow, see if she was winding me up or something, maybe I took her seriously when I shouldn't have.

    Throwing a curve-ball out there........

Was speaking to a work mate today who had done the Vegas thing and suggested securing your accommodation as a walk-in. You give any hotel address to get your travel visa thingy and you get the best deals on the day. She said there is no way you wouldn't get a room in Vegas cos of the size of the hotels and everything. Her and her partner got rooms in MGM for $13 a night this way.

Sorry I have made over 40 trips to Las Vegas and unless your friend had some special relationship there is no way that they have ever got a room for $13 a night on the day or otherwise at MGM unless they had some big playing history.

Las Vegas is one town where walk in rates are far higher than prebooked, to get the best rate you book a refundable offer far in advance and keep checking and get the hotel to adjust your rate if they drop.

All of the godo advice you will get will say what I have said above if it does not then it is bad advice it is of course your choice what to do or who to follow.
Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time

While we didn't get a room for as cheap as $13 a night, the cheapest room we have ever got was the day we simply rolled up and asked at the front desk what they could do for us (with no playing history) .....so despite your 40 trips it is possible to occasionally get lucky.

Would we chance it again ...no way!

Out of interest, how long ago was that ? And how much did you pay, which hotel ?

i've sent a couple of mails asking for the rate at £1000 and £10,000.
    will update if hear back...

i think the general conclusion is the rates are about 2 years out of date!

I also sent an email just asking for a rate on their basic £500 limit.

I'm not so sure the rates are 2 years out of date as they do have April 09 dates next to their rate for their 15 day + rate.

Thanks for that - you learn something new every day!

Does anybody know anything about American national holidays? We're looking at going the 2nd week in September but for some reason rates for that weekend are consistently the most expensive in the month for the MGM (I'd stay anywhere but my friend is adamant she wants to stay there!). Now I know its Labor Day on the 7th so I was wondering if that would have a knock-on effect on rates for that week? Though it does fall on a Monday so I would have thought it would be the weekend 5th/6th that would be expensive and not 12th/13th.

    Thanks in advance!

    Katesu,

World Market is in town people start arriving from the 12th, finish on 18th

It is not a major event in the eyes of Vegas but will attract 100k

Going back to the Roll-up debate, (This is not recommended for someone who has just travelled 10-15hours) my US collegues seem to do it alot, have not heard of a $13 night in MGM but dependant upon timing have seen $30 a night but by the same token I have also seen this work the other way when I have paid a lot less than them! Luck of the draw!
