Great report dude!!!!!! Well done and thanks :)

Guys I am travelling by BA to San Fran and have a 737 i think with personal entertainment systems in chairs...do you get given headphones? Do normal headphones fit the jack?

    Rich
Not flown with BA but we've flown with lots of different airlines and our own headphones have worked on all of them.....we never use the cheap and nasty ones that they provide.....I'm sure you'll be fine

Agree with the others - you should be fine with your own headphones, though in some cases the ones they hand out have the double jack (most headphones come with an adapter)...I think the only difference is that you get stereo sound if you have the converter - if you don't and there are 2 holes, your headphones will only fit into one and you'll get sound from there.

We always have our own (and never remember to bring the converters for 2-pin connections) - and must say that noise reduction or noise cancelling headphones are one of the greatest inventions ever. :)

    Hi Everyone

Due to fly to Vegas for the first time in a couple of weeks!

When DH and I normally go away, we can specd quite a while dithering on where to eat, so I wondered if anyone could give some recommendations?

I realise that there are hundreds of places to go, but to get some 'experienced views' on it would be great!

We plan to have a 'posh' dinner one night, and then would prefer casual dining for the rest of our time there.

Also, my DH is a BIG breakfast fan - any recommendations for brekkie?

    Thanks
    Whitters

Breakfast - Paris buffet is good (fresh crepes).
Other meals - depends what you like. As you say there are literally thousands of places... I normally stick to the buffets. That way you can have whatever style you want.. and can eat like a pig :)

We normally stay in houses now rather than hotels (done a few in the past) so breakfast is normally at home but if we do venture out we normally hit IHOP for breakfast.
Evening meal we love Dan Marino's which is now next to the Hooters casino, Cheesecake factory in Ceasers and for buffets Paris all are mid priced This year we will be trying Pepermill lounge after reading a few good reports.
Have a look here for sample menu and pricing.

    Hi guys,

Not long to my Vegas trip and was just wondering the best way to go regarding $. When I've visited the States before I have always took travellers cheques (2 week hols) or cash for a short stay in New York, but obviously cash is king in Vegas, but don't fancy having loads of cash on me. I have read the posts further back about Fairfx cards and have just been on the site. Would you recommend this route??? Do you just withdraw the cash from ATMs and do you get charged even though the money is already on the card. Sorry for sounding a bit blonde, but would appreciate your advice!

If you are going to use FairFX you will need to get a move on as it takes around 10 days to get the card and PIN to you. All you do is set up the card and transfer money to it at the rate set when you move it. they then send you the card (about 4 days) and the pin (about 8/10 days) then you just use it either at ATM's ($2 charge for each transaction !!+any charge by the ATM machine}) or you can use it as a charge card in most shops that take mastercard. If you have internet access whilst you are there you can top up the card whenever you like at a better rate than changing in a casino ect.

For breakfast I agree with Paris buffet, but also recommend Peppermill - it's such a kitschy place to begin with, only in Vegas. Portions are massive too and pretty good value - not the dirt cheap end of things, but you won't need lunch!

For 'posh' dinner we like Mon Ami Gabi at Paris - patio seating (which you can't reserve, have to sign in and wait - they give you a buzzer though so you don't have to stay in the queue)...it's not really posh, but poshish, good food, good value and magnificent view of the Bellagio fountains...also nice as you don't have to dress up (always a plus for us).

And our favorite cheap meal is Ellis Island barbeque...sign up for a players club card for a discount, and if you have either the American Casino Guide or the Las Vegas Advisor Member Rewards book you can get a buy-one, get-one free...ridiculous value and great barbeque.
