The Bellagio FountainsHey all, I have spent the last couple of evenings reading all these pages and have found some handy tips! Thank you to all! I have been to Vegas once before and am planning a return visit in April with my girlfriend for my 30th and staying for 5 nights. We stayed in the Luxor last time and found it very comfortable and convenient for everything on the strip. At the moment we have booked into the Stratosphere as we found a really cheap deal and thought we would therefore have more funds to spend once over in Vegas however after reading all your reviews and comments we are having second thoughts due to the distance from the main strip, the 'Downtown' area and doubts over the rooms/facilities. Any comments? Where could we stay which is on a similar level to the Luxor or better but will not break the bank? Are there any new hotels on the strip which may be worth a try as it sounds like some of the older hotels are tiring a bit and in need of a refurb.
We heard The Killers are playing in The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on April 17th and have desparately been trying to get tickets via Ticketmaster but have been increasingly more frustrated with having no success. It seems like they don't have any tickets but just redirect you to the resellers at a mark-up! If anyone has any ideas on how we could get hold of some tickets please advise.
As it is my 30th we really want to try and get the most out of it so if anyone has thoughts on the best things to do in Vegas in 5 days please let us know! We have already done the Canyon on our last visit and the restaurant in the Stratosphere. Where is the best place for me to join the poker tables and where is the best spa for my girlfriend to go whilst I am (hopefully) sitting at them for hours...?
Any replies much appreciated......Bring on April!0 -

Hi, have you tried your dates with this offer http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com/2009/02/01/mgm-grand-players-club-escape-3/ at the MGM?0 -

The show is long sold out (the venue only seats 4,000)...so the only way you'll get tickets is through a reseller...you can have a look around for various options - I've never used a ticket reseller so I can't recommend any but maybe someone else here can...there are loads of resellers selling for a lot less than the Ticketmaster marketplace but I have no idea how trustworthy they are.
As for hotels - the MGM deal that has been posted here several times will cover your dates, I think...

A little off topic, sorry but hoping someone will know.
The Angels Baseball play at Anaheim and have a game on while I am there in April (tickets not on sale yet).
Has anyone been? do they sell out or is it easy to get tickets?
Thanks
First month of the season - opening day is liable to be a sellout (along with the whole first home series if its a weekend series). Middle of the month the Red Sox come to town and thats the series I'd be aiming for! (Red Sox at Fenway have sold out every game since 2003). Angels are pretty well attended but tickets will be easy to get for most games, especially any day games during the week. Apart from the opening opponents and Boston, you're liable to have your pick of seats. It is an open ground and bleacher tickers will be from about $15-20 (be prepared to sit in the sun for numerous hours during a day game if you go for the cheapest tickets). The link from the teams website will allow you to see exactly where the seat is. There will be about 10-20 different price levels to choose from, and even tickets behind home plate will be available (as all MLB teams operate a system where season ticket holders can advertise their seat for particular games ....with 81 regular home games a season, you can understand why it makes sense!)
Don't forget folks that there is a AAA team in Vegas, the 51's (a feeder team for the Dodgers). $20 gets you the best seat in Cashman Field ...just think twice about going on $ beer nights!0 -

Of those three I would dismiss the Riviera as it is an old property and quite far north.
I was going to say Bally's which may be slightly better than the Flamingo, but seeing as you're going in July, the pool may be a major concern and Flamingo has a better pool than Bally's.0 -
The Secret GardenHi all,
Found some interesting news here, Hard Rock Cafe are opening on the strip in July, down by the MGM next to the M&Ms store utilising the showcase mall building. Link below.

Seems a bit of a surprise with the Hard Rock Hotel already being in Vegas (though admittedly not on the strip.)

I totally agree that Riviera is old and you shoudl cross it off, I woudl stay at Ballys over Falmingo yes Flamingo has a nicer pool but the property is not as nice as Ballys and Balls has the added advantage of being connceted to ParisIts Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time0
