I really don't think Excalibur is as bad as a lot of people make it out to be.

That time of year the kids should be fairly minimal too.

I certainly think that Excaliburuis s decent enough property far better than tripadvisor woudl have you believe, its just MGM is nicer. As far as the kdis go I have never noticed it at Excalibutin fact the worst place i have been for kids is Bellagio !!

i don't think there is a one way fee between California and Vegas . we hired with Carhire 3000 in LA and dropped off at McCarren and had no fee..

It depends on which company the rental is with and what the specific terms are - I went through this with CH3000 recently and they did change my reservation to one with no one-way fee for £12 more than my original booking (which was much better than the $300 one-way fee they said I would have been charged)...so it's very much worth asking about and as others have said having the fact that there's no one-way fee printed on your voucher. If memory serves it was Froggit who was charged a one-way fee anyway and recently go that resolved.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

have booked for flamingo go room
but been looking around and seen the mgm grand pool
wondering if its worth spending the extra on the hotel room to have a nicer pool area (given that will prob spend around 40-50% of time lazing by the poolside)
    thoughts?

Firstly if you have booked directly with the hotel, then it is way to early to get a good deal.

The pool at flamingo is one of the best in Vegas, dont think it has a lazy river though,

If you want THE best pool in Vegas then go to the Mandalay bay for the sand, surf and lazy river.

Whats the MGM pool like and does it have a fee?

My missus likes the idea of a river at MGM? What is this?

MGM pool is free for guests it has the best lazy river that I have ever been in it takes about 8 minutes tyo go all the way round. Its a river that you can swim in or float round in a rubber ring

    That's good to hear!

We're starting our trip in April with a few days in Las Vegas :j , staying at the Excalibur (our daughter's choice).
Can anyone please advise whether there is anything particular we should ask for when we check in, eg is one tower better/more recently refurbished than the other? Is it better to be on a higher floor than lower down? Does one tower have better views? etc
(If it makes any difference, we need a room with two double beds to sleep self, DH and DD.)

Willing to try the $20 tip thing, if anyone thinks it's likely to benefit us...

    Any advice gratefully received.
