Agreed - and sounds like you've provided some really useful info - so no need to apologise at all!Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
The Bellagio FountainsI need you opinions. Don't go suggesting other hotels, because we have that covered for the remainder of our SIX WEEK stay.
1 - Excalibur $388. (inc gym pass + 2 drinks) Widescreen Tower room.
2 - MGM $429 (inc nothing except familiarity.) Grand Tower room.
We have both these rooms booked for our first week in Vegas in May.
We have stayed in several different MGM rooms, enjoy the pool area and food choices. Total cost for this booking is $429 inc taxes etc. We would have to pay extra to access the gym/spa area.
A friend of ours said that the Excalibur widescreen rooms were nice, but we have never considered this place before. However the total cost including a resort fee of $5 per day is $388. The resort fee includes a gym/spa pass and a few other bits and pieces that we probably won't make use of.
Neither offer has food credit, but the Excalibur gives us two free drinks. Because of the free gym passes for Tony, I'm leaning towards the Excalibur. (That and the fact we can tick one more property off our to do list)
Opinions please. BTW we arrive May 4th. in case that makes a difference.0 -

I have just got a great quote from carhire3000 - £199.75 for 12 days HOWEVER, it says "a one way rental fee may be added to your booking..." - I don't think I can find this out until after I have paid the £35 deposit. Anyone know if a 1 way fee is likely?
i don't think there is a one way fee between California and Vegas . we hired with Carhire 3000 in LA and dropped off at McCarren and had no fee.
Carhire 3000 are very helpful if you call them up and are my first choice for carhire in USA everytime.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

Recently traded in a load of tesco clubcard vouchers for airmiles and also got a lloyds tsb credit card, to get more points, and when i was looking today on the airmiles website i noticed that you can book hotels and flights to vegas through airmiles. What i would like to know is can you upgrade your room and or flights seperately after the initial booking, as the only rooms available are basic rooms and standard fare flights. Any help would be appreciated thanks
unknown as i don't know about Airmiles , but i would be prepared to try $20 trick rather than pay in advance for a better room.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

I have stayed at bothe properties many times and whilst I have stayed in Tower room, bungalow, spa and hollywood suites at MGM I have only stayed in a standard room (albeit a view room) at Exclibur, if you do stay at Excalibur then you need to get a view room not for getting a room but because if you dont you have a view accrosx the casino at another tower. With the price being this close I would not consider staying at Excalibur regardles of what is thrown in, I would happily stay the odd night or two at Excalibur if Iam on a budget but it is a budget hotel where as MGM is still luxury. Given the choice of a spa/gym pass at Excalibur or the use of the pool at MGM, MGM wins hands down, the rooms are so much nicer they have baths for starters and the most comftable beds in Vegas. Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time0 -

We have so many places booked! Thinking Orleans 27th, 3nights, MB 30th, 3 nights and Paris 4 nights from 2nd. Looking like when you get to Vegas we will be at the Paris.
I also have MGM (vowed never to stay there again) and Luxor booked and just cancelled CP.0 -

We haven't stayed at MGM and it's been several years since we stayed at Excalibur, but given the options I would probably try Excalibur...we've always said we'd be happy to go back there if we got a good enough deal. The widescreen tower rooms are newly refurbished so would assume they are pretty nice as your friend has said.
If Tony would use the gym (especially if he would pay to use the gym at MGM) then I would lean even more toward Excalibur...if nothing else to tick a property off your list and try something new...since you're there for 6 weeks and since it's the first week it seems like the best time to try it. I really don't think Excalibur is as bad as a lot of people make it out to be.
That time of year the kids should be fairly minimal too.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
