OK - so I thought £200 was good as Virgin quoted me £280!
Quote was for economy 4 door.
We are looking to hire:
Pick up: San Francisco (Fishermans Wharf area, so prob O'Farrell Street?)
Date: 27 Mar, pick up 8am
Drop Off: Las Vegas McCarran airport
Date: 7 April, drop off 3pm
So 12 days hire, I think. It's just 2 of us so we only want a 4 door economy (with unlimited miles as we are off round Yosemite, Bryce & Zion, Monument Valley etc)
Thanks for your help and advice - I was ready to go ahead with the carhire3000 - if you can save us any more I'd be well pleased! (off to tesco's now but will check thread later)0 -
The Bellagio FountainsJust worked out that with all my chopping and changing of hotels, our total for the hotels has come down from £882 to £696, a saving of £186!0

Nope, couldn't find a price less than £200 (didn't search for any current online promo codes though)0 -

T&C's: http://www.tesco.com/CLUBCARD/DEALS/PRODUCTINFOSHEETS/S6038.PDFyour clubcard deal tokens can not be used against accommodation only, flight only, fly drives, flight upgrades (etc etc etc)... accommodation must be booked for the full duration of the holiday
if you can give me some pointers on how you managed it it would be great as we have shed loads we'd love to get rid of this way!!!0 -
The Bellagio FountainsWe arrive in LA on the 24th and then 10 nights in vegas from the 27th
Where are you staying, we are doing 2nd and 3rd April at The Stratosphere or MGM Grand (both booked but can't make up my mind) Then 4th is Grand Canyon at The Grand Hotel, followed by 5th, 6th and 7th at Luxor followed by 8th and 9th at Mandalay Bay.0 -
without dragging the thread off-topic - how did you manage to do this? it's something we had looked at in the past (but had to rule our because the T&C's say it can't be used on flydrive holidays:

hi nvh,
I think I was using the wrong term calling it fly-drive, because I think that term refers to just booking the flight + car hire, not accommodation.
We have booked a 'multi-centre holiday' which means we booked the accommodation with them as well (14 nights: SF - Yosemite - Death Valley -Vegas - Canyons - Monument Valley - More Canyons - Vegas) and this is certainly OK with clubcard deals.
Obviously, the amount we are paying for hotels is WAY more through Virgin than if we were booking independently, but as Tesco's is paying - I don't care!
If you have enough to cover, flight, car and hotels its a cracking deal. Our clubcard points covered £1300 of a £1800 holiday (well £2000 when you add on the car hire I'm doing separately) meaning we have a 2 week touring hol for £350 each.0 -
The Bellagio Fountainsfantastic! thanks Gilly - we'd looked at just Vegas before and it always comes up at silly amounts (eg. £2400 for a week), however it sounds a bit more doable now! (even though we only have around £800 deals tokens!)
good work anyways! would cost you over £350 each just for your flights so you've got a cracking deal i reckon!0 -
The Bellagio FountainsHello again! Recently traded in a load of tesco clubcard vouchers for airmiles and also got a lloyds tsb credit card, to get more points, and when i was looking today on the airmiles website i noticed that you can book hotels and flights to vegas through airmiles. What i would like to know is can you upgrade your room and or flights seperately after the initial booking, as the only rooms available are basic rooms and standard fare flights. Any help would be appreciated thanksACHIEVING THE AIM SINCE.........0

NVH - To get the best prices I used the virgin holidays website and spent AGES shifting dates and accomodation options, and I made sure I was out of Vegas on the weekends (as the prices out at Death Valley/Bryce/Grand don't have that horrible weekend price hike). I ended up getting Caesar's Palace for £19 on one night...its very much a question of you trying out options and calculating what's possible, as if you ring, the operators will not necessarily search out the best deals.
Apologies to the regulars - I've introduced myself then monopolised the thread for the afternoon! I'd better disappear and do some housework..;)0
