Me to, I used to play only B/J for about 6-8 years, now the only time I play it is in this country. In vegas I only play craps, but that can scare the bejeesus out of you. I lost $300 in less than 5 minutes last trip.

I really really wanted to play craps when I was there- i watched some vids on youtube on how to play and practiced on an online casino (for free)- but when I got there I bottled it- it seemed like madness and I didnt want to mess up- going to have to make an effort and play next time.

Maybe I should be brave on my next trip and try some of the lessons that they do, might be a bit of fun, at least they'll let you make mistakes and tell you where you've gone wrong. I'm sure they did them at Excalibur (and Palazzo??) some mornings.

Correct, you should hit, but you look at the faces of people at the table when you hit an 18 against a 9, even my wife cringes when I do that, sorts the real players out from the ones that don't have the courage of their convictions when it comes to the strategy.

Just looked at the strategy card and it disagrees with your advice....

According to the card, it says you should always stand on an A-8 no matter what the dealer has.....

BTW whats the lowest denomination you can play with on BJ and is it just in the cheaper casinos.....

Basically, all I want is a game to play that is fun and gives me a good chance of not losing much money so I can drink for free (excluding tips) all night :D

    EDIT

Thanks Stu, you reminded me.... I also will be going to one of the free lessons in BJ to see how "real life" differs from online play before jumping in.... :D

nope, can't see it any other way than you saying your crib card disagrees with what to do with the previous advice on how to play a soft 18. For some reason you then say your card says to always stick with a soft 19 ....which is correct advice.

    What am I missing?

Right, but he said soft 18...which is A-7...not A-8...which woud be soft 19. :)

If you know the rules but need the experience try playing in the morning on a low table, IP, Excalibur or Tropicana are all pretty forgiving in the day. My first live craps was a $3 table in IP and kept throwing the dice out of the pit and hita cocktail waitress on one occasion but they were OK. When I threw 5 7's on the trot they kept changing the dice and all sorts ;-)
Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time

Cheers Ferf, you read my post and spotted that I had obviously misread (miscalculated) the original post on what cards I was holding.... :D

Now that I understand I would be holding A-7, I can see from the chart that I should hit :p

To be fair I think that that's what wydw was saying too...
