Booked the Bellagio yesterday for 12 nights after our 7 day stay in Canada for our party of 5.

3 in a room worked out at £587 each for the 12 nights and the party of 2 was £730 each for 12 nights.

hey trets - you're thread is getting referenced at bitterwallet.com (mainly in the 2nd post regarding Vegas, this is the first).

I don't necessarily agree with all the guy says, but nice that some folks might find their way here from there. :)

nice to have helped someone out

as for this being my thread :o i think i would say something along the lines of what The Rubber Duck says in the film Convoy

Need some advise please. Have just seen what i think is a good deal at new york new york in October. $80 a night for standard room Monday to Friday. I know a lot of advise on here about booking and cancelling later but this is non refundable so need to know if this sounds a good deal or it is better to wait. Above offer must be booked by 28 january so i'll have to make my mind up quickly.

thanks in advance.

$80 sounds okay , but not spectacular . If you are happy with the price and are looking to stay at NYNY then why not go for it . i doubt you will make huge savings over it anyway ( staying at NYNY anyway) .

if you do book it , don't recheck after to see what might have been.

loved our stay there and would stay there again.

If this is the offer I think it is (2 night Minimum 30% off) it is a non refundable rate I would not book it, you should be able to get somthing a bit better than that nearer the time. If it were refundable then I would say book it and then look around closer to the time but my advice is hang on. Vegas is not getting busier at the moment is it likely to in the near future there is a bottom wehere the rates can fall no lower but IMHO $80 midweek for NYNY is not that.

NYNY is a fair property though the rooms can be slightly dated, they have finished refurbing the casino floor and I dont like as much as I id, I also think that the NYNY is slightly over priced, the level of comfort is certainly no better than Monte Carlo and not as good as MGM yet it is often far more expensive I think its because the architecture is so cool and its small (by Vegas standards).

Oh have a look here there may be somthing that helps http://vegasuncovered.wordpress.com/2009/01/25/las-vegas-casinos-2009-great-discount-rates-mgm-mirage-luxor-etc/

It is a little confusing the makes and models I think I am favouring a durango or like now. Also think the that type of car will be good for watching the world go bye

Xmas 2007 I had booked a Jeep Cherokee and when I went to pick it up I was offered a free upgrade to a Durango, I told them that I did not want the upgarde but that was the only 4x4 that was available and as I was going to Yosemite I needed one. I did not like the Durango one bit it was too big (my last car was a Discovery so I am used to big cars), the driving position was uncomftable, it burnt fuel (about 14-16mpg) and it had a lot of body roll, the build quality was alos very poor. It was good as you could easily fit everything that you could ever want in it and you are very high so the view is great but it was not even as comfatble as the Chrysler Voyager we hired before.

Its been said before and I'll say it again.......

Vegas isnt going to run out of rooms.

Except possibly for CES week and similar. Book flights as soon as the deal you want is there. Start looking for deals at a range of hotels that you fancy two or three months before you go.

Definitely dont book a non-refundable deal this far ahead unless it knocks your socks off eg Wynn for $119, Venetian for $139......both of which have been seen recently.

gone and booked it. done the paycation deal where you get extras including upgrade to a park avenue strip view room. this works out at $420 for four nights but as i say has some special added extras. also doesn't say it is non refundable so if anything cheaper comes up i may cancel although after looking at the deals for this past october at new york new york we wouldn't save very much and we really want to stay here. also added bonus of getting our dollars at £2 = £1 with travel money services as we ordered it last june for delivery in march ,so it works out quite good value for us , although i'll be glad when the cash turns up next month.
also booked 4 nights at imperial palace as it is on a different area of the strip.$170 in a deluxe room seems a great price and again fully refunderable.
Thanks to all for there help and valued info. it will be our first time and so looking forward to it.

You *have* read the Imperial Palace reviews on www.tripadvisor.com haven't you ?
I'm sure you'll like NYNY although I'd suggest if you stick with IP doing that first and then NYNY as it may feel like too much of a drop otherwise.

Was just catching up on the thread. Sat nav maps were mentioned a couple of days ago. I got mine for my Garmin 660 in Sept/Oct from ebay, was either £40 or £50 and most places wanted about £100, so worth a look for anyone considering buying one.

if i may make a counter argument. :D

The pound is in free fall  and may sink even lower , wiping out any savings . grabbing something you consider a good deal now may be the way to go for some.

of course the pound may rally between now and then making it a bad bet , but i think if you are happy with the price , there are positives in taking the offer.
