right ive signed up, but one final question (promise)
i signed up using my bro's o2 contract number, but if finishes in 3 weeks time. So the price would go back to 12.83 or what ever it is, if i was to get a o2 contract or payg sim, could i still get teh price back down to 7.38 or what ever it is ???

I believe so - if you see Martin's original post, and/or contact O2 - you can go to pre-pay, and provided you top-up £10 every 3 months (or something like that), you are eligible - best to check with O2 though.

    Quote -

Non-o2 customers can cut the cost further

You can save by simply getting a Free o2 Sim and crediting it before taking up the broadband package, even without using any calls as then you count as an o2 customer.

Yet you have to top it up every 3 months with £10 so the overall savings if you dont use the calls would be an extra £20/year (£1.66/month)

Didn't you go for the Premium one? That works out the same price as the Standard...as per my posts above?

Same for me. It is because we are out of the recommended area  So once o2 discounts are applied it would be about #12 per month. Still cheaper than my current BT as that is limited to 20 mbs download so worth the change for me....
I'm having a similar problem. I checked that I can get their broadband in my area, & seemed fine (but read more of the small print - I'm out of their area). Boooo, it would cost me more than I pay now.

    What's the deal?

It's possible for anyone with a BT line to get unlimited download broadband for £6.40 a month or even less if you are an existing o2 customer.

Hate to rebel against thy bestest leader, but this is a tad misleading: it is NOT possible for ANYONE with a BT line to get this, but rather it MAY BE possible to get it if you have a BT line - it's only in certain areas, depending on the bundled/unbundled business. I see this is acknowledged much further down in the article, but it's not really emphasised enough.

Perhaps the title could be changed slightly so others who are less savvy (i.e. a bit dense like me) don't get confused and spend ages on the o2 website trying to work it out! Ta!

Hi all, I want to migrate from Freedom2Surf (who were excellent until they were taken over) to o2, but I know I can't get super fast braodband access (I was getting a solid 8meg connection until F2S were taken over, when things started going downhill, and traffic shaping started to ruin my life!).

I'm an o2 mobile contract customer and so was expecting to be able to get a decent deal on braodband with them, but when I visit the o2 site and enter my landline number it's quoting £17.13. I believe this is on the 'Access' package, as o2 don't have their kit at my exchange (Rhosllanerchrugog).

As previously mentioned, I don't believe the QUIDCO cashback appleis to the o2 Access Package either

    Any other suggestions?

I want away from Freedom2Surf and want to pay less than I'm paying with them (£23 pm!)

    Thanks lots

What speed does the checker here suggest that you should get?

The only LLU operator presence on your exchange is Orange and TalkTalk.

Tried to sign up for this but it seems you have to have a mobile number. I don't! Seems daft that they will only let people with mobiles join-shouldn't this be pointed out in the intro piece?

You do? I have an O2 Mobile - so entered that number at the O2 sign-up stage - but as far as I know, the Quidco offer is available to all...isn't it?

What stage of sign-up exactly did you find you are not eligible??

States clearly in first paras at head of this thread that o2 mobile phone contract or payg is required to get the discount price.
O2 BB price without a mobile is still a bargain at £12.20/m
Regretfully I signed up before the cash back offers started.

I am not sure whether Redned is after the O2 discount or just the Quidco. if the latter then it is is confusing as, as he says, it asks for a Mobile Mumber. I see no reason why after going to the site via Quidco that he could not just go to the Home Broadband page and get the non discounted price.

Obviously if he was after the O2 discount then he would need to go grab an O2 PAYG.

The O2 web site clearly states that the discount becomes available if you sign up for Broadband and subsequently become a Mobile customer.
