As I have 4 days left out of the original 100 days I have decided to go for another 100 starting on 11 March to make it a 200 day challenge for me.

My dates run from 11 March to 18 June 2009 for the 200 day challenge.

I continue to include all cosmetics, skincare, haircare and any other toilettries unless I have run out and need it and will use it.

I also add chocolate and crisps and ready meals to this challenge as my next things to work on. I'll include crisps when my current pack runs out next week.

Hang in there everyone, you'll be there sooner than you think :j

    Morning all :hello:

I am proud to inform DH is joining in :D He pledges not to spend any money on sandwiches for lunch. I know, unbelievable but he still spends money on work lunches

We've set his date to be the same as mine (June 9th). So he says he'll try and I have faith in him. After this hopefully I can convince him to ditch crisps on Round 2 (it's what I will do) ;)

fedupandskint - Wow, 200 days, way to go!!! May this serve as inspiration to the rest of us! :T

Me and my BF recently made up and in an effort to be really nice to me brought me in a load of shopping from Sainsburys; treats he knows I like etc - In amongst which he brought, Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toothpaste, facewash......

He said, "I noticed some of your things in the bathroom were running low, so I brought you some more."

I didnt have the heart to tell him I was running things down so I could clear a stockpile!!!:rotfl:

    Awww that's so sweet! :rotfl:

Right my DH just reminded me of a little secret I have. I don't know about you, but I do 2 washes of my hair every time I wash it. So....

My mum worked as a hairdresser before she had me and my brothers, and so did my aunt. They gave me this great tip for saving on expensive shampoo.

The first wash is only to get rid of the dirt and grease. The second is to actually get the benefit of the shampoo onto your hair. So for the first wash, the cheapest shampoo or even shower gel will work. For the second you can use your 'expensive' shampoo and get all the benefit from it (say, colour protect, anti-frizz, moisturising, etc) while using only a tiny bit. You don't need much, as your hair is already clean, you get more coverage!

Hope you find that tip helpful. I know it's saved me a lot of money on shampoo as I have A LOT of hair, long and very thick.

    Still going strong.

Heat day isn't a problem anymore... it can pass with a whisper now! (or so I like to think...)

Crisps and peanuts? Well, I do crave the salt hit I get from them... (and yes, it is slightly medical) I think the biggest problem is still chocolate. I have allowed myself to buy hot chocolate, as this hits the spot for me as much as a bar of chocolate ever did... I will need to break this in order to buy Easter chocs for my nieces and nephew... but as it isn't for me, I don't think it counts!

It's exciting to think that there's only a month left of this 100 days... that's 2/3rds gone! I think that like Fedupandskint I'm going to have to extend this... because if conversations this weekend are anything to go by, I may have to save up for something special for next year... :D:D:D (and about bl***y time too!)

Right then ta dadadadada, drum roll pleaaaaase……!woohoo1.gif

Tomorrow is the end of my first 100 days – just one blip! danceparty.gif

As I have said many many times this challenge has worked to help me end my QVC addiction, it feels to me like I am winning the challenge of the power of QVC now thanks to this challenge. The only thing is, I need to extend this to 200 days to protect myself from a relapse back to my previous behaviour as soon as the 100 days end.

:D WHAT HAVE I USED UP IN THE 100 DAYS? :D

(Some of these products were half empty or less hence the humungous list!)

1x 243ml Philosophy Cinnamen Buns Shower Gel
1x 243ml Philosophy Hot Coca Shower Gel
    1x 500ml L’Occitane Angelica Shampoo and Conditioner
2 x Mark Hill Hair Oil Capsules
    1 x 50ml Liz Earle Toner
1x Elemis Collagen Face Mask Set
    1x Philosophy Poreless Flawless Primer
    1x 50ml L’Occitane Honey and Lemon Handcream
    1x 15ml Decleor Nail Aromessence
    1x Molton Brown Lip Balm
    1x Gatineau Lip Balm
    1x 30ml L’Occitane Foot Cream
    1x 50ml Gatineau Neck Gel
1x 50ml Liz Earle Nourishing Face Mask
1x 200ml Liz Earle Orange Flower Body Wash
1x 15ml Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate
1x 15ml Liz Earle Nourishing Face Mask
1x 50ml Liz Earle Skin Repair
    Body Shop Mango Body Scrub
    L’Occitane Shea Butter Hair Mask
1x 15ml Nails Inc Cavier Nail Oil
    1x 500ml L’Occitane Sweet Almond Liquid Soap
1x 30ml Philosophy Hope Is Not Enough Facial Firming Serum
1x 25ml Eve Lom Rescue Mask
1x 1L ABC Tea Tree Body Wash
    1x 50ml Decleor Handcream
    1x15ml Decleor Ylang Ylang Aromessence
1x Ojon Ultra Hydrating Hair Conditioner
1x 28g Philosophy Hope in a Jar Moisturiser

You might think after all this lot my skin and hair looked great, well I can’t really tell any difference (more’s the pity!)

 WHAT WOULD I REPURCHASE FROM THIS LIST?

Philosophy Firming Serum and Hope in a jar Moisturiser
    L’Occitane Liquid Soap
    Maybe Philosophy Shower Gels
    Liz Earle Nourishing Face Mask
    Decleor Aromessences

At least that list is quite a bit smaller! I won’t need to repurchase any skin care in the next 100 days that’s for sure so I’m not really thinking about this too much for now.

    :D WHAT HAVE I SPENT IN 100 DAYS :D

    1x Sanex Deoderant £1.67
    2x Sanex Deoderants (bogof) £1.59
4x packs of cotton wool pads (on offer 2 for £2) £4
1x L’Occitane Handcream (ran out of handcream and my treat for doing so well!) £15.65
2x Mark Hill Hair Repair Capsules 456 Boots points
1x Umberto Gianni Mini Curl Spray 156 Boots Points
1x Trevor Sorbie To Go Curl Cream 156 Boots Points
    2x Blanx Toothpast £9.10
    3x Listerine Mouthwash £5.97

Nails Inc Designer Set of 6 £29.31 with P+P – sold for £23.91 Balance £5.40

    Total Spent £43.38 :D

Believe me this is a miracle compared to how much I was spending before I can’t even bear to work it out but it would be probably more than 10x’s more on a CC

Here we go then, moving on to the…..

    200 DAY CHALLENGE

I need to carry on with my original list and add a few other things in that I need to gain control of again

No skincare/cosmetics/TV Shopping/only replace what I run out of and need
    No chocolate/crisps/ready meals
No impulse buys from Supermarkets – make a list and stick to it

Apologies for the long post but I wanted to show you if I can do it you can to and another HScyber.gif sent to Magni to say thanks for starting this thread, I am so happy with how much I have achieved and am popping my boots straight back on for the next hike up to 200 days!

Can’t wait!!! See you on the journey and the end date is 18 June! running.gif

  • Wow, Fedup, you are an inspiration to us all to keep going. :T Well done and good luck for the next 100!

This challenge has really made me stop and think before buying things. Last night, though, big wobble! I had to go to Spar for some milk and I started looking at the mags (why? ). Marie Claire had a free Neal's Yard moisturiser and I had it in my sticky mitt and was halfway to the till before I realised what I was doing! I went and put it back, bought my milk, and went home, feeling pleased with myself. This morning, though, I am still wobbling and wanting to go and buy it. I keep telling myself to stay strong and resist (wish this would work with chocolate and cake ;) ). Without the support of this thread, I would just give in and buy it, so thank you everyone. :A

I wil also post what I have used up (although not as impressive as fedupandskints llist:D )

    1. Emergin C cream tea cleanser- like it but can't justify expense so won't repurchase.
    2. Trilogy vital moisturiser- lovely rich moisturiser which i will repurchase at some point.
    3. Decore dry/damaged conditioner- brought for $1 but would not rebuy as didn't suit my hair.
    4. Te Tao chinese herbal therapy conditioner- brought for $1 and if saw it would repurchase once i run out of conditioners(which won't be for a while as I have a lot:rolleyes: )
    5. Innoxa sunscreen 15+- nice sunscreen, but would not repurchase as i now only use 30+.
    6. Food for your skin body balm lavender- liked this and was only $10 so may repurchase. Although I probably could make myself cheaper:D
    7. Sunsense lip chapstick- was given by my work when a promotion was on. Would not buy as I am trying to avoid mineral oil in my products.
    8. Trilogy hand cream- this was a GWP and would not buy as I did not find it rich enough.
