Thanks Magni,
I'm glad you've had a good weekend, that will set you up for the coming week nicely.
As it turns out my blip isn't as big as it originally was. Part of the order got duplicated so one book is one it's way to me already !! So I arranged to return it in anticipation of the same book and 2 more coming out to me later, and Amazon have said that as it's my error they'll be deducting the return postage from my refund. So I've cancelled the 3 books and am going to keep the one that's one it's way, so I've only spent 14.94 pounds. Admittably I've still fallen off the wagon, it just wasn't as big of a bump as it should have been :rotfl: . Saved from myself once again.
Toodles.
ooooh, this is my one hundreth post!!! and I'm ranting :sad:0 -

Does anyone have in their life the same level of support this thread gives on this subject?
Does anyone else understand the powerful addictive qualities of toiletries, skincare, cosmetics or whatever your own personal achillies heel is? I have found only on this thread do people truly understand - other people don't really get why we can't stop buying if we want to.
This thread has saved me many hundreds of pounds over the last 94 days, I can't thank everyone enough for their support and helping me achieve this :T
It was hard at first, very hard. Has got a little easier now, even with one blip (sold on at a loss of £5 which is only a bit more than it would have cost to send back).
Even thought I have 6 days left on this challenge I can't think if it in this way and need to think about it going on until June 18th. I've removed my CC details from my account at QVC so I can't just nip and ring QCut to orderI won't ring the order line as it gives me more time to think it through and stop me.
Blimey, just reading this back makes it seem like a proper addiction (maybe it is?)
Kerfuffle, sorry to hear you had a blip too and then tried to sort it out. Happens to us all it seems, we just need to pick ourselves up and keep on going and learn from it. I think it is part of the process of change!
Mellika, welcome!
I hope you find this thread as helpful as I have. I too had cupboards full of all the same stuff as you. After almost 100 days it is going down at bit after I sold some and gave some away for pressies at Christmas. Good luck and I'll be joining you next week to finish on 18 June next time.

Too right bebebelle - I could not agree more and it's took this challenge to make me realise this.
I've just put 3yrs worth of QVC receipts in for shredding for all the things I used up in beauty - couldn't even begin to say how many were there and how much it all came to - it's like working out much money you've spend on a drug addiction. thanks god I'm on the road to recovery at last and not going back there again. The QVC card is back in it's 'Welcome' pack filed away neatly to be left alone in a drawer. I don't need Mr QVC leading me down the path of temptation again and he won't lead me gently by the hand any more hiding his capitalist grinfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Hello everybody,
Hi, Fedup - My achilles heel isn't so much toilettries (the BOGOF's get me on that one), it's books, and I tried the aversion therapy by getting books out of the library. But I ended up buying the book I'd taken out on loan from the library because when I wanted to renew it there was a 'sucking of the teeth' and I was told 'well, THEY (?) don't like to do that ' and that she'll try for me this time but I may get a phone call asking me to bring it back in. So I figured on this occasion the library was more hassle than it's worth so I ordered the book. But at least I tried
Regards the QVC welcome pack, is there any chance **and I'm being tentative here** that maybe you could get rid of it? To avoid temptation in the future, ** getting ready to duck**
Bebebelle, totally agree with you regards to 'the others' getting richer whilst we get poorer, this has been outright war with me from the start :rotfl:
Mellika - welcome, I'm glad you listed fem hygiene products, I listed them too and was a bit embarrassed after I did because I wondered whether that was too much information, so thanks for that :T

And Northern Lights where are you? Come on now, you know confession is good for the soul!! :rotfl:
Time to fess up, I think!
I've been so busy lately, I haven't had time to keep up with this thread, although I have still been sticking to the challenge. I have had several wobbles, but on the whole have not succumbed to temptation, except for 2 misdemeanours!
1. I have been really missing my Good Food mag - don't know why as all the recipes are online  . When I got an offer for 6 issues of delicious magazine for £6, I was sorely tempted. I did think about it for a whole day, though, before I decided to go for it. This is a huge shift in my behaviour. :j
2. My DS got a £5 Waterstones voucher for his birthday, but the book he wanted was £5.99! What could I do? On the plus side, it was BOGOF, so we did get 2 books for 99p.
Apart from that, I feel like I'm doing well and not really missing any of my banned items as much as I thought I would.0 -
Hi guys, haven't posted for a while but still going strong. Only had to but deodorant and toothpaste. Foundation bottle is looking very empty so may have to buy a new one of those. I've been checking the freebies boards for free samples of make up and toiletries and I think this has helped me not to spend, nothing better than getting something free in the post and still get my fix. The pile of stuff hasn't really went down much as most of them were pretty new bottles but I've got a lipstick nearly finished, a Charles Worthington Dream Hair conditioning spray that I would usually have put in the bin by now but still has a tiny amount left in the bottle and a mascara that is nearly done0

It is the ultra-Gloop! It smells a bit peculiar but is brilliant stuff & will get everything off (including waterproof) & if you were so inclined you could even put a bit more on afterwards as a moisturiser (I do when my skins tired out and dry.) It doesn't sting or make your eyes water if you're heavy-handed with it & it'll double as a lip-balm. And I know I mentioned before, but it is the bees knees at getting face-paint off with - and because it's so gentle I know I can slather it on. I use it with hot water and a flannel rather than cotton wool (things can get a bit fluffy!) Try it & report back. Ooh no, now I'm enabling! Ok, another tack - ask one of the lovely staff in Lush for a sample in a pot to try at home. See, a no spend solution! :rotfl:
Lucycat, thank you for the advice on the Ultrabland. I went and got a sample - and loved it! I am now the proud owner of a brand new pot (but only because my other cleanser ran out :rotfl: ). IMHO it is better than Liz Earle C+P. It doesn't smell as nice, but I think it's better at getting mascara off and it doesn't irritate my eyes.
By the way, did you mention a dry shampoo in one of your posts. I have been using Batiste but I hate the smell, and it is about to run out (hooray!) , so am looking for an alternative one.0
