Couldn't agree more. I am a firm believer that I buy more cosmetics/toiletries & accessories when I'm generally unhappy with my weight though - doesn't mean I stop doing it, just means I'm not spending on clothes instead!

I definitely won't be restocking the cupboards though. I think I'm getting to a stage anyway where I know what suits me & while the temptation is still there to try new things, I always end up going back to the same tried & tested. None of them are horribly expensive either - the dreadful truth is that I could chuck everything else and be fine with my staples.

    Face & Body:

Olay Total Effects Moisturiser & Blemish Care
    Mitchum Roll-On Deodorant
Blisteeze Lip Care (in a metal roll-up tube!) (or Carmex if unavailable)
Pantene Winter Rescue Conditioner (for hair, for shaving legs)
    Lush Ultrashine Shampoo bar
Good old Vaseline - the bigger the tub the better, I'm no stranger to decanting! :rotfl:
Lush Ultrabland (for removing makeup, face paint from children, slathering on dry skin, lips, etc.)
Badedas Bath Gelee - Horse Chestnut (my Granny always used to use this & I thought it was the height of luxury & very ooh-la-la!)

    Makeup
    Benefit Blue Bad Gal Mascara
No. 7 Illuminating Highlighter Pen thing (their Touche Eclat)
    Benefit Dallas bronzer
    Mac Kohl Liner
No 7 Illuminating Highlighter Liquid (pink bottle - their 'High Beam'!)
Bourjois eyebrow pencil (I've had this for three years - I guess a little goes a looooong way!)

Anyone else want to share top tips of favourite products (and ones to avoid??) - and in the process distract me from thinking about the other thing I won't be buying for the next hundred days - or hopefully ever again? It's been three whole days since my last cigarette...

    Hi Lucycat :hello:

I have far too many faves to list, but my top 4 (couldn't pick 3!) are:

:D Smashbox halo hydrating perfecting powder foundation in fair - (like a minerals one but you turn the top and it kind of grates the amount out  )
    :D Philosophy clear present primer
:D Sanctuary body scrub bar (absolutely WILL NOT live without!)
:D And Liz Earle cleanse & polish (and thank you Northern Lights for introducing me to THAT little treat a couple of Christmases ago!! :rotfl: )

I gave up smoking (about 4 years ago now) and it was ROCK!!! So WELL DONE :T :T :T
    Grocery challenge: Jun£134.15/£120; Jul £60.90/£120

Lucycat, congrats on the no smoking!!!:T

    My faves are:

    *Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish
*Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic
    *Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser
    *Liz Earle Orangeflower body wash
*Liz Earlie Body Scrub (anyone spotting a theme here!?!)

Need to find a body moisturiser that I like, using a Boots Botanicals one atm, but fancy a change

    Things to avoid:

*Ojon hair stuff - smells like poo! (Sorry to those that like it, thats just what I think :o )

Another day done and nothing on the banned list bought

    Sx
'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars' - Oscar Wilde
  • My favourites are:

    Bath and shower:
Decleor detox bath and shower gel
Penhalagons Artemesia bath oil and shower gel (two different products)
L'Occitaine Fig shower cream stuff (smells divine but they discontinued it about 18months ago, but you can still find it in sets and discount stores from time to time)
Jo Malone Fig and Cassis, Lime something (lime blossom or sweet lime) or mandarin and basil

    Shampoo and conditioner:
L'Occitaine olive oil shampoo and conditioner and lavender conditioner (although I find I have to shampoo twice with the latter)

    Face stuff:
Some oily skin/blemish stuff by Neutrogena that I got in America (will be breaking this challenge to stock up when I am out there next week - no help to anyone that isn't going to America, sorry, will find link to it in a mo though in case I can find it here - I think this was the one cheap but works for my skin - and I just saw they do a body wash version too, I fear I may fall soon)
L'Occitaine Lavender vinegar for helpig spots to go faster

    Make up:
Bobbi Brown concealer (the one in the pot not the stick - it really is a miracle worker)
    Prescriptives lengthening mascara
Lipstick - a make called Lola that I got in Sephora in America, I haven't seen it over here recently but will toddle off and have a look for it - this is it in America
£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)
    Sealed Pot #389 (2010=£133)
  • good to see everyone doing well. I have been on the wagon except for the 2bags of crisps that were bought for me. I don't miss buying magazines at all which is great and I am enjoying using up the toiletries:D

I did look at the QVC guide earlier and got excited with some of beauty TSVs coming up and then thought that the challenge won't be over and i can't buy them anyway:rotfl:

Mmmmm - LOVE Sephora!! Went WILD in there last Easter when we were in Florida and can't wait to find one in LA next year! :j
    Grocery challenge: Jun£134.15/£120; Jul £60.90/£120
  • Oooooo this is fun!

After many years of extensive research into make up and beauty products :rotfl: this is my top 5 list of can't do withouts:
    1. Dermalogica Day Bright - love the smell, love the glow it gives!
    2. MAC Studio Fix - I can count this as a moneysaving product as you don't need separate foundation and powder :rotfl:
    3. Blistex Lip Medex - from US, my brother buys it in bulk off ebay, it gives you the tingliest lips ever
    4. MAC lipsticks - is there any better makeup than MAC? :D
    5. Kerastase hair conditioner - expensive but lasts for ages
Lucycat - I've never tried Lush Ultrabland, is it nice and gloopy? I've been using Neal's Yard rose beauty balm as a cleanser, but it is so expensive I need to find something cheaper. I like something nice and thick that you massage in then clean off with cloth and hot water, and that gets (non-waterproof) mascara off as well! A tall order, I know, but do you think Ultrabland might do the trick?
