Sure walty, that counts, especially as you giving up smoking as well!
  • I used up the last of my vouchers (not in the challenge) today on a lovely jumper from Monsoon (£13.50 in the sale reduced from £45 - hurrah) and then I got the change back in cash so it is sort of like I made money today

Other than that I haven't slipped up at all - mind you I did spend a couple of quid on crap food that I really didn't need. As I was walking round I was even thinking about what I have in the freezer and agreeing with myself that I didn't need most of what I was looking at. Sadly I think not spending on food for 100 days is not realistic, but I do need to have a long hard think about my budget and behaviour. :rotfl: (I may do that over a glass of 'been open for two weeks' red wine)

This is such a great challenge and reading the thread every day is keeping me on top and helping me remember not to buy my weakness purchases!

Also telling my friends, who are very impressed that I will not be drinking much diet coke for the next 90 days ... obviously everyone has noticed how much I drink it!!!

I need to add DVD's starting today - was wandering around HMV and managed to buy 2 box sets. Had been thinking about them for a while so wasn't an impulse buy in that sense ... but need to stop!

Keep up the good work everyone :)

Well, in the spirit of full disclosure & the need to 'fess up, I slipped as predicted last night at my makeup lesson with my sis. It didn't actually feel like a slip, as it was very carefully planned to avoid completely going OTT - and fortunately, as I mentioned before, not really my money...;)

I ended up getting an eyeliner from Benefit (I could have gone mad, so quite restrained really), and then using all my points coupons in Boots - did walk away with 1300 points on a £21 spend though. Once a Boots tart, always a Boots tart (although this is where most of my stash came from in the first place, and I stopped actively tarting nearly three years ago! :o)

On a more positive note, books are actually leaving my house instead of coming in - this week two boxes have gone off to the charity shop, I've listed 40+ on GreenMetropolis.com - and two have already sold, yay!

I've turned all the little hotel soaps into liquid soap (as we get through a hell of a lot of that in this house) & decanted it back into squirty containers, and I've crocheted little wool overcoats for the big bars of soap for pressies for some good friends (the wool felts when you wash with it so it exfoliates/lathers in one.) So the stash is being reduced, and I haven't replaced it yet - that is definitely a good sign as I'd normally have dashed to the shops to restock when I noticed things were running low.

Also haven't bought any mags (and especially no heat!) :rotfl:

We had an ace time last night though & I'll shoulder the guilt anytime for the chance to get a bit of quality time with my sis. Hope my fellow challengers will forgive me my sins - perhaps some kind of penance is in order?? I feel a stash-busting session coming on!

Straight back on the wagon with me today - glad to hear everyone else is still doing so well, and welcome to all the new challengers! :T

I'm starting to feel that me and Heat Magazine have reached the end of a 6 year relationship. After a passionate start, when my weekly fix of gossip saw me through a very tough time of ill health, our love has been slowly dying over the past few months, and now it has finally fizzled out. This challenge has led me to take a break (and I don't mean the magazine) from buying it, and now I see that our relationship was only based on having one thing in common!

Yes, I think my addiction is finally broken! YAY :T

Doing well - have not bought chocolate or nibbles (though was tempted by bombay mix in Mr M's today...).

    Keep going everyone! :)

10 days of not buying lunch or spending any money at work. So a tenth of the way through. I don't get paid for 2 more weeks and I'm pretty broke so I think the next 10 days should be fairly easy too.

When I get paid I'll be taking £50 and putting it into a piggybank as it will be the money I'll have saved so far.

Well done everyone who's succeeded so far.

  • I'm still on the wagon, amazingly! Just missed out on a free Marie Claire magazine from the freebies board and was offered 3 issues for £1. Sooooooo tempted but my halo is intact (for now anyway!).

Got the new free Boots magazine, so will try and pretend it's a glossy mag!
