My mum is basically v lazy ok she's 59 but is now fat (after being v slim all her life) so needs to start doing exercise. First we tried cuban salsa but she didnt like it, then thi chi ditto and now latin salsa. I will not give up we're going to try aqua fit(we've done that before and its been ok) and pilates. It maybe that we find her a class for the over 55's but they tend to be on during the day.

    3. Friends round for tea-must do food shopping.
    4. hoover floors and general tidy up for the above reason
    5. Pick up bike will coat £52 SOB!
    6. Pay B&Q for the bathroom

You could be talking about me -so here's the old's point of view
Classes - embarrasing and boring (yep -all of em) -oh and expensive.
You have to want to do it yourseld and lovely daughters putting on the pressure just makes it harder.
Here's what seems to be working for me:-
In Feb I decided I needed to get fitter and eat better (drink more water and make sure I do 5 a day) so:-
Breakfast -just fruit ( Banana + 1 or 2 others)
Walk to the local shops and back every day (20 mins down hll there 30 mins uphill back) -cheaper than the gym & I can listen to my DAB
Have a bit less on my plate at all other meals (2 instead of 3, 1 instead of 2 etc)
    Hungry between meals - oatckes/soft apricots/water.
(Am not rigid tho - there's the odd chocolate bar and cappucino thrown in -we olds need the milk for our bones)
Its been very easy - don't know what I weighed or what I weigh now, but I'm down a size; I can now get to the top of the hill without being totally breathless and managed a 14 mile walk with OH this week.
    Good luck to your Mum
