    Hello souk08,

& welcome to the crazy ladies thread :rotfl:

sorry, didnt realise you were searching for us :o, most of the SAID girls try to pretend we're not here

I wont pretend that this is the best fun I've had, but it sure has saved me some money; just knowing I have to come here & confess all stops me before the till / online checkout.

I'm thinking of adding up all the purchases I DONT buy next year, just so I know exactly how I have saved. Must run into thousands .

Of all the saving & cutting back I have done this year, the one thing that has motivated me to clear the debts more than anything is this thread.

I miss shopping for new things SO much .

Never do I kick myself more for getting into debt than when I want to buy new clothes / shoes etc.

The day when my debts are cleared & I can go shopping to buy something is going to be just wonderful :D

    Hello all fellow crazy-ers!

I have been in the mood to buy new clothes for several days now... the uncontrollable urge! I think it is part due to the fact that my OH is away this week, so I have felt the need to 'treat' myself to make up for all the running around with my DD at school, and me working full time. Anyone else get that urge? and how do you control it?!

I have managed to satiate it after a number of spends:
    * a vintage worsted wool black short jacket. I think it is a bit small but the woman in the local oxfam said I looked like dita von teese;)... so i promptly bought it! Was £3.99 and wore it for work yesterday.
    * a gold leather accessorize belt, with twist detail for £1.49
    * jumble sale today went a little nuts, but having sorted through, will be keeping: a handmade vintage grey and green jungle print cotton dress, a green long vest top from River island, a bold purple and blue print tunic from george, a maxi length purple cord skirt from cherokee with detailing at the bottom (these last two items look fab together, I feel very abigail's party!), a hand knitted vintage cream cotton cardigan with large roses knitted into the design, a tight striped t-shirt I plan to use as a vest under jumpers, and a vintage (well, 80s) laura ashley pelmet granny print skirt, a little tight but looked great with the green vest top and a belt over it. Total cost: £2 :D
    * four belts and three scarves, 70p
    * also couldn't resist trying out some new charity shops on the way home. bought a lovely H&M black knee length skirt with four buttons at the top. Fits like a dream, and will look great with coloured tights. £2.50

I love shopping at jumbles as it is a good chance to try out things you would not normally want to invest money in and see if you like them - such as the maxi skirt. Being only 5 ft 3, I thought it would look ridiculous, but I love it.

Tomorrow I plan to go to primark to buy a selection of coloured tights to add a bit more variety to wardrobe for winter, and to make up for all the horrible black bobbly tights in my wardrobe. I also need some boots as my winter ones aren't waterproof.

This evening I have been through my wardrobe, hung everything up, and realised that I do have a lot of lovely clothes, just need to work out some new ways to wear them.

Sorry, long post, probably because the most talking I have done today is to the ladies at the jumble sales!:rotfl:

I think jackets, belts, scarves don't count, so am declaring £4.50 off my total.

    Happy New Clothes museumworker :)

I'm really struggling not to buy stuff at the moment but have only bought a pair of trousers for work so not part of my challenge this year. Well done for getting so many bargains, I am scared to spend my last £10 :(
  • £8 jeans from tesco and a £22 dress from next. I never usually buy anything from next, and was just taking a short cut through but the moment I saw it I knew it would go with loads in my wardrobe and would be perfect for work.

I'm going to end up going over budget because I need something for NYE but being even close to £100 is pretty good going for me.
  • You are all doing fab and Lula is a LEGend.

Well done everyone:T I still haven't brought any clothes tho I do need tbh and put it down to the fact that I seem to be on a plateau weight wise. Ive lost 10 kilos since starting in feb, but the last few months I haven't lost anything and I'd decided I was going to get something nice when I reached the 15 kilo mark. I guess its good for my wallet that I haven't lost the weight:rolleyes: Im going to have to let some moths out soon tho as i desperately need socks and bras, not very exciting but very necessary:D

    Lula u r doing a fab job:j

Very true about the leather handbags that cost a bit more. I have 2 that I have hung on to which cost somewhere between £50-£100 and they have lasted me years and years.

If you love it and you will use then fair enough for a gift! Go for it mum2one

I have a Mulberry bag that I bought in 1999 for £200  but I am still using it (and still love it :D) every day - so I consider it to be money well spent!
Sometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!
