Have none of you had a clothes swap party?.I have had one in my house, and got friends to bring friends, chucked hubby out for the night due to a lot of half naked women trying on clothes.Rule is that everyone brings at least two outfits that they wouldn't be ashamed to be seen out in, plus handbag/belts etc.Chuck in a bottle of wine each and a few cheapy nibbles and it is a great laugh.

Some local community halls are doing them,if you don't want one in your house.

mum2one - I think £100 for a handbag that is well made and that you've always wanted is a good price. I personally think you get what you pay for where bags are concerned, and a good leather bag is a good investment. The most I have personally spent on a leather bag is £60, for a small one but I still have it 7 years on whereas the cheap ones from cheapie shops never last. I'm very lucky that my partner works on ladies accessories, so I get given a new leather bag every few years (don't hate me!). If you think that you will use it practically everyday for years, it makes a lot of sense.

Regarding whether you should accept it from your mum - it sounds like she wants to spoil you, and if she couldn't afford to do so, I doubt she would offer. Sometimes it is good to accept such generosity, as it is given with love.

    Happy 40th!!!

    Hey guys,

Arwen - thanks for that idea, it sounds great if you have a group of local friends of similar size & with similar taste in clothes :)

Mum2one - For a good quality bag that I truly loved & knew would last for years then I would happily spend a 3 figure amount IF I had it available without resorting to credit :naughty:. Once I am debt free it will be nobobdy's business but mine what I choose to spend my hard earned money on :p;).

Until that time, I am here for guidance, & temptation avoidance. Havent even looked at the M&S bag again, you lot made me feel guilty & are very very mean :( :rotfl: - confession works though :D

As to the offer of the bag as a gift I agree with Museumworker :D

Very true about the leather handbags that cost a bit more. I have 2 that I have hung on to which cost somewhere between £50-£100 and they have lasted me years and years.

If you love it and you will use then fair enough for a gift! Go for it mum2one

    Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well.

I'm just letting you know that I've had a spend, and have bought a blouse which cost 19.81, it's a funny amount I know but it's because of the taxes. I bought it to hopefully wear at a job interview but it's looking like I'm not even going to get as far as the interview stage, fingers crossed, there's still time I suppose.
  • Last week only lost 0.5 lb. Not fair asI had been really good. This week lost track as have been away. Today bought a nice cardigan and over top thing from Asda for £25 for both. Still struggling to get in a size 12. Had a really good sort out today and took loads to the charity shop. Also put all summer clothes away.

    Hi Everyone

It's been ages since I posted on this page. I've been lucky to have had some gift cards which has kept me going with clothes recently - mostly just a couple of M&S smart tshirts to wear to work.

Yesterday I went a bit mad and spent £150 BUT only £44 was on clothes - this takes my total up to £96.20. I am really please with my year. I know there are still a couple of months to go so I speak too soon but I am pleased with my progress!

At the start of this year's challenge I talked about wanting to lost weight - I couldn't manage it on own so am now doing it with WW. I have lost 9lbs so far and have lots to go but this will all help me to get into my new clothes.

Looks like you have all been doing really well.

    urg x x

Visited a Monsoon outlet shop - and came away with 2 berets and a pair of gloves all for £9.90 - none of which count towards the budget

Sorted through last winter's clothes, so no need to buy new :D
