  • What a fab idea - can't believe I've not seen this but been v busy this year and not been on DFW as much as should've been.

Would love to join in with you - I spend oodles on clothes for me, DH and DS and DD - mainly 'cos I've put on weight again  and needed some for work. BTW for work I always buy v good but in the sales (e.g. Planet etc.) but that's because I run my own business and have to look smart for clients. Even so, my mum regularly buys tops in the sales (Windsmoor, Planet etc.) for c. £7 - if you wait long enough!! Don't know if that would help you Lula-Hula for your new job - and I really agree with the capsule wardrobe suggestion.

Right. Given there are 3 months left of this year:eek: , I'll commit to not spending any more than £25 between now and 31 December - I think that works out as about the same as £100 for the full year.

    Sounds impossible - yikes!!

Am in a bit of a panic myself as have 30th birthday party next weekend and really, really want new frock . Have yet to find anything in budget though . Don't want to bomb out from challenge at late stage!!!

A few more things to declare from a jumble last week... an unworn M&S black linen mix blazer (worn it twice already!), a Topshop navy blue t-shirt, a maternity pair of jeans and blooming marvellous wrap dress. No, I'm not pregnant, or trying for one, but they were so cheap I just had to get them:rotfl:. Total cost: £1.40:T

Does mean I am left with about £20 for rest of year, and party frock though:confused:.

Lula Hula I don't think I would be able to meet a £50 work challenge that included shoes, I must have spent £70 on shoes already this year :o and my winter boots are so leaky I need a new pair.:D Wore them to a conference on Tuesday, stepped in a puddle on the way and had wet feet for the rest of the day!

    Hi everyone :hello:

I completely forgot that I had signed up to this challenge - doh!!

Anyway, I've just been trying to tot up all my purchases (mostly charity shop bargains and sale items) and I reckon I've spent another 70 quid, bringing my total amount left to £26 - not bad really, though I've always had an eye for a bargain - or maybe it's just that I've always been skint!!:rotfl:

  • Hi all-been to Lakeside in Essex and is was really unpleasently hot! There was me wearing a jacket ready for winter and it was about 20 degrees. Not helped at all by trying on quilted anaraks. Anyway got in a dilema -did I spend a lot for quality or cheap? I'm not really a 'casual' person but needed a hooded waterproof for holidy later this month. Finally bought a silvery one with a fur trimmed hood in JDSports for £25. Hope it does the trick.

Lula-work clothes-the high st shops are really good if you shop carefully-I get lots of stuff fron ASDA. My colleague got a nice suit with jacket, skirt , trousers from Sainsburys. Also i buy from charity shops, I wore a dress yesterday which drew lots of comments which I only paid £5 for. I work with people who spend £100s and 100s of pounds on clothes but I think I manage to look just as smart as them on much less.

As for how much-Lula-I would say £100 for casual and £100 for work.
  • Hi everyone, I signed up for this at the beginning of the year, but have totally bombed due to buying loads of maternity clothes which NEVER seem to be in the sale.
Anyway, just wanted to say I think everyone is doing really well, and hopefully I will be back next year and will stick to it this time

Go for it! very suitable for your trip (I'm not jealous ... no, not at all...;)) & will also suit other events. Bargain, I'd say!

I'm still wondering how I'd managed to forget the enormous number of winter clothes I'd put away in the Spring. My half-empty wardrobe is now FULL again .....but most of it is WORK clothes :(

I would say swop places as I'm going with my Aunty, shes already worried about the food, shouldn'y laughed but when I showed them the photos from last yrs trip, my uncle said, oh the plates must of been full, for you leave that, - no actually that was the main course!!

I'm going to order it this afternoon, hope it looks as nice, if not got plan B, I brought a dress in Ann Harvey sales xmas eve, reduced for £99 (who would pay that much for a dress, - down to £17). I wanted it originally for last yrs trip, but wasn't paying that price! So had the matching skirt, top + jacket, so at least the dress will go with the jacket xx

mum2one - I couldn't get the picture to load, but also very jealous of your trip, sounds fab (even with aunty and small portions!)

I have more purchases to declare. Having gone shopping to try to find something for my 30th birthday party next saturday, I bought a 1980s carnation print tea dress, with shoulder pads for £4 from local oxfam. I think I can style it out - in a slightly shoreditch way. My partner however thinks I look like hyacinth bouquet :eek::rotfl:! Now I'm not so sure... but even less in my budget and less time to find something!! Bought black waist elastic belt with oversized interlocking circles for £3.50 to go with it.

Also bought star print short sleeved tea dress £1.50 on half price rail in another charity shop - wore that on saturday over skinny jeans for ice-skating, my partner said why can't you wear that to your party:rolleyes:?! And a Monsoon A line black embroidered polka dot cotton skirt, a total wardrobe classic that I can wear all year round for £3:T.

Unfortunately that means I have spent £8.50 on clothes - and potentially still no birthday frock to show for it!!:rolleyes:
